Metro United having ID Sessions

You do understand how this works right?

It isn't about the team they are on, it is about the quality of the player they want. Any DA or ECNL club wants. There are lots of great players who come form obscure small clubs. Metro doesn't need an entire team, just the couple of players who are good.

Do you think FCV turns a talented kid down because they played at a small club?

As a parent of a 2008 NCSL DD, this will be an interesting Spring for us as she will be preparing to play on a larger field and also determining which league to play in (CCL, EDP or DA/ECNL) and which clubs to tryout.

My DD is interested in trying out for Potomac Blue (EDP) and Bethesda Blue (ECNL) as well but ECNL travel is a little intimidating. I will have to go buy a new car soon if she really wants to play in BSC Blue (ECNL). Some have mentioned that U13 is a good time to join a DA/ECNL team as it gets harder after this age so I’m also a little weary.

Look at Stoddart and Potomac lack of placements and participation in major tournaments, that will give you an idea.

#7 in the state is not bad. Add in some players from #16 team and a few from outside and it will probably be a strong team.

You don't get it. It's not about how talented a player is. Its about the ranking of the team a player plays for.

What does the ranking of a team mean regarding any particular player?

I think that was sarcasm. Tournaments, placements, rankings mean nothing. Either the player is good enough and passionate enough or not.

there aren't great players who come from obscure soccer clubs in Montgomery county except from the ones mentioned

unless MU is recruiting from MSI Classic with non-travel players... lol

this is definitely true on the boys side (unknown / obscure players who come out of nowhere with talent) but rarely, rarely true for girls

Someone should pass this along to the MU coaches so they can cancel the MD ID sessions.

I’m not able to fully understand what you said above. Are you saying that it’s almost impossible for an unknown girl to come out of nowhere?
