Lab-Grown Diamond

Opened this thread bc i inherited a gorgeous setting w/o a stone. I want it for a right hand ring but feel silly buying a big diamond for it. What is a good source for lab created diamonds? I want to order the diamond & take it to my local jeweler to set it. Am I correct that it will look ok to have real diamonds in the setting & lab as the stone?

Keep telling yourself it is "real"

3ct flawless, colorless, perfect, naturally occurring diamonds don't exist

Part of the allure is craftsmanship of mining the diamond??? Lmfao whoever said that you are an idiot. It’s mined by an African kid abducted at gunpoint and told to start working for the diamond cartels or they’ll kill his family. Yeah. A true craftsman.

James Allen and Brilliant Earth, Clean Origins, Leo DiXaprio has diamond foundry or whatever it’s called. Check with jeweler first though to see if he can get you a good price.

This thread is nuts, so just so you are aware, a lab diamond will still be $$$$$

And your issue with that is ? What? Does it make you feel bad that you overpaid for your?

I actually like a PP’s theory that she’s classist and thinks SHE should have the biggest diamond but she herself can’t afford one that big so she comforts herself by saying “well at least mine is real!!!”

Not everyone feels they need to have the biggest diamond, most luxurious car, biggest newly built house, etc. to feel important and worthy.

Uh, no. A leased diamond would be the same as a leased car.

That's a really good idea, actually. Is there a RTR for jewelry?

The insurance costs would do it in I think.

"Yes, it's real," said PP as she showed her 1ct. solitaire to her sorority sisters after her engagement. "You get what you pay for, and in this case, I paid for a ring mined by a small child who watched his mother's violent rape and murder before he was given to child slave traders and forced to work in the mines at age eight. You just can't replicate this craftsmanship in a lab!"

This is OPs question in case all you are confused. No where does she express ethically concerns about how her diamond is mined. Her priority is getting the biggest diamond

Okay...she didn't say that, we all said she may as well get a bigger ring and do some good in the world at the same time.

I guess I don't get why you care that she's getting a bigger lab diamond than she would mined...because she couldn't buy a mined 2ct. stone? I don't get why that matters. She is saying she can afford 1ct. mined or a 2ct. lab...they are about the same price. She's not asking how to put a diamond ring on layaway.

Actually, there's a company called Adorn that rents diamond jewelry to brides. I.e., a huge diamond cuff would look best with your style of gown, but you can't afford a $50k cuff, you can rent it for a few hundred bucks.

I little off subject, and older generation woman here with a rant: The most ethically-sourced diamond is the one your mother is trying to give you! I hear from many of my friends that daughters/sons don't want the diamonds we want to give them. Young people want new and won't even take something and repurpose it.

"I don't eat GMOs and I definitely don't vaccinate my kids," she added, before heading out to her botox appointment.
