What principle? SMH

The principle that one is always innocent until proven guilty - remember that one?

I only wish I lived in Maine so I could vote for her.

That’s in the criminal justice system. Not necessarily for job interviews. Why is this so compliforcated for you people?

It's not complicated for me. It's the way I think we should approach any situation involving a person--whether rumors, interviews, school-related infractions of rules, possible crimes, etc. Won't be the same as a court of law, but give the benefit of the doubt. And definitely with a situation where the accuser can't provide key facts.

But the person's behavior during the job interview is immaterial to you, it seems. Somehow.

It's been repeated countless times, and the court of public opinion is clearly divided re his behavior. I'm one of the ones who thinks his response was justified. You and I will not be in agreement.

I totally agree with you. And, having found out now how the Democrats planned a well-funded smear campaign against him, he was well within his rights to be furious.

The hearings also held an air of "stagecraft" that Hemingway suspected was also a factor in the lead-up to that meeting. Blasey-Ford, for example, wore a blue suit that Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, reportedly praised as an allusion to Anita Hill's outfit during Justice Clarence Thomas' hearings.

While making that comment to Harris, she also complimented how Blasey-Ford's attorney requested a "Coke" for his client -- for her, an apparent reference to a crude allegation that Hill lodged at Thomas.

Hirono, the authors said, also included a query about indigenous people in the unprecedentedly long list of questions the committee gave Kavanaugh, a move they suspected the Hawaii senator made in an attempt to persuade another swing vote -- Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska -- after already pledging, like other Democrats, to oppose Kavanaugh's nomination.

Even Ford’s best friend knew Ford was in on the smear campaign.

Really? Why wouldn't she expose Ford? If she knew and said nothing, then she was complicit. That is a serious allegation. Do you have any evidence?

I'm so very sorry that you were accused of near rape, rape, and near murder. Glad you were able to effectively keep your cool.

That's not my point. My point is he lacks the demeanor for a lifetime SCOTUS appointment, the highest legal job possible. Because they were serious allegations he got to throw a tantrum and cry? Please. He could have made a far better case without the dramatics but he was playing to the base

DP. He wasn’t “playing” to anyone. Get back to us when you’re accused of attempted rape in front of the entire world - including your loved ones. Let’s see how helpless you feel and how calmly you actually behave.

Very calmly indeed, since this is the only honorable way. So much so, that half his advisers really wanted him to act this way! The other half wanted him to go on the offensive, and I believe that was a terrible mistake: it paints him as an out-of-control, ridiculous whiner, and taints his Supreme Court legacy.

Paywalled, but what does an opinion letter prove? We all saw the mean drunk. I don’t know what kind of people cons consort with that that looked normal or Supreme Court appropriate to you, but yikes.

On the contrary, millions of people saw Democrats insist that this man was guilty of an allegation with zero proof. Guilty until proven innocent is apparently the Democrats’ MO. It may not have been a criminal hearing, but it might as well have been. “Yikes” is right. That spectacle is something millions of Americans will *never* forget.

This.

And I've said it before. Democrats surely didn't like his choice. HOWEVER, they didn't like Gorsich either. And that was a stolen seat. And his nom sailed through the Senate.

Republicans put forth Kavanaugh, and stuck with them, just to show that they could. It was a pure power play by the entitled, white, male establishment at the expense of a woman (and women everywhere) who had credible allegations that she told people about LONG before he was appointed to SCOTUS. Republicans could have dropped him, found some equally right wing demagogue without his history, and he would have passed no problem.

So, no not a witch hunt. Republicans just have zero shame or integrity. But a big tolerance for sexual assault and a display of lack of judicial temperment. Oh, and guys who like beer.

I don't think you no what zero means.

What she said would have triggered a decent criminal investigation if not barred. And much of the evidence from that sham investigation would have come. And surely what was not considered would have also come in. He wouldn't have gotten off nearly as easily.

I don’t think you know how to spell know. At any rate, her allegation was 35+ years old. Her best friend couldn’t even vouch for her. No one - least of all the FBI - would have taken an “investigation” of that kind seriously. Keep dreaming.

I think you’re the one who is being a bit too smudgy and dreamy in the hopes we forget that GOP put another sicko on the court. The White House blocked a real investigation. Why? If there was nothing to hide, you’d think they’d make sure to be thorough.

Yeah, “LOCK HER UP! LOCK HER UP” and “LOCK THEM UP! LOCK THEM UP!” and “it’s okay that anamerican citizen was held by ICE for three weeks.... cuz... reasons....” are all statements that very much support innocence until proven guilty.
