It wouldn't be up to the coaches it would be up to the directors so that wouldn't be a go. The coaches would be only a select few that would get the opportunity and I'm sure they would be ok working together if able to coach in a higher level competition.

Bingo.

The coaches would be fine. Leadership of the clubs...Eh, maybe not so much. But then again, a lot has recently changed. And it wouldn't need to be 3 or more clubs. Just two, if they're the right clubs.

It isn’t that easy. Do not forget that the one successful partnership in Northern VA was an existing DA club bringing in a partner club.

Does anyone know if there are repercussions if teams are brought over from LMVSC to SYC (even under the farce of try-outs)? I don't mean a couple of players. I mean the majority of the team.

Is any of this good for the kids? Take a step back and think about it. The SYC and LMVSC communities are intertwined in many ways. Yes, coaches and players can ultimately go where they choose during try-outs. But let’s be frank, there is encouragement along the way. So what are we getting robbing Peter to pay Paul? We are getting the larger and consolidated Clubs laughing at us as we split our talent into 2 Clubs where we both will ultimately be weaker. As for the posts suggesting teams are coming over with Coaches, I really hope not for no other reason than it will serve to undermine both Clubs and ultimately weaken both Clubs. That is a very short sighted vision. Changes have been made which is fine. But both Clubs need to leave it alone now.

Why have two clubs in the first place? Why have different clubs at all? SCAA, SYC, LMVSC, ABGC, and BRYC merger!!!

Really hard to say what's good or bad for any group of kids. Families will have to make the call. Change is a constant.

P.S. LMVSC has turned down offers for mergers from other clubs looking to partner with them to form a DA. There's room for another DA in Fairfax County and it will come from a merger--but don't count on LMVSC being involved. SYC now looks like a solid candidate.

SYC in the DA!! Hahaha please pass it to the left.

"Contracts are for a 12 month period ..."

Yeah right. Better read the fine print!

Why would they be hiring coaches now when several new coaches were just brought in?

Because they plan to fire more.

I doubt that at this point it wouldn’t be firing but just not renewing their contracts.

Isn’t that the same really? Though I hope that doesn’t happen if it’s not warranted. I think the concern is that good coaches will be let go in order for LMVSC coaches to replace them...in order to bring over teams. And everyone knows who has the most successful teams (like the 2 coaches mentioned previously)!

Who has the most successful teams?

SYC 2005 boys beat LMVSC 2005 Boys at the ASIST tournament this weekend.

Is the SYC coach Este's brother? If not, don't see how he keeps his job...

Fair point. But at least this weekend, he sure looked like the better coach.

You and I are on the same page, but he literally could win every game from here to June and he'll be off that team.

I wouldn’t use a one-off U14 game in a preseason tournament to make a determination of who has more successful teams.
