Trump gives the Democrats the best soundbite they could possibly hope for: "Yes, if we don't get what we want...I will shut down the government. ... I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I'm not going to blame you for it."

I am sure he will blame anybody but himself tomorrow.

Nancy Pelosi: Well then go do it.

Good trolling. Where are the Trumpkins?

American families have to take out a second mortgage in debt to send our kids to an engineering college and their wages are tamped down year after year by politicians on both sides bought & sold by multi-national corps. Freaking joke.

Quit the "both side" bullshit. If the republicans want a wall, get Mexico to pay for it as promised.

Leave it to a woman, to show all the Republican men in the House and Senate what it looks like to have balls.

Conspicuously silent. I asked this question several pages ago and still crickets.

Nancy Pelosi after the meeting:

“It’s like a manhood thing with him — as if manhood can be associated with him,” she deadpanned. “This wall thing.”

Trump is no match for Nancy Pelosi.

No one in Congress today understands the nuances of legislating than she does. Not even McConnell. She's a formidable, savvy, ruthless and wicked smart contender to anyone, much less the obtuse Trump, who still has learned how governing works, doesn't like to read, and is unable to absorb complexities. Trump will lose at every battle.

On this one, he will own the shutdown, along with every other constitution crises that will inevitably come in the next year.

The correct answer here. This is not a Dem issue. They R's have had 2 years to pass the funding for this wall. They didn't.

THIS! Trump and the Republicans have had TWO YEARS to figure out funding for their dumb wall. “Your lack of planning is not my emergency.”

+1 The Republicans don't want the wall either. Wait. Didn't Trump say the Mexicans were going to pay for the wall? He promised!

+1 million

Yup, Trump is acting like a toddler and not a man skilled at the "art of the deal."

“The American people recognize that we must keep the government open, that a shutdown is not worth anything, and that we should not have a Trump shutdown,” Ms. Pelosi said.

“A what?” Mr. Trump shot back.

The unusual display in the Oval Office raised fresh questions about how and whether Mr. Trump and lawmakers can reach agreement by a Dec. 21 deadline to keep much of the government open, appearing to harden diametrically opposed positions on the president’s signature issue. It also showcased the interplay of two politicians playing to very different bases: Mr. Trump appealing to his core anti-immigration supporters and Ms. Pelosi to the young liberal lawmakers she needs to keep in her camp ahead of next month’s speaker election.

Outside the West Wing after the meeting Mr. Schumer said Mr. Trump had thrown a “temper tantrum” over the wall, saying: “The president made clear that he wants a shutdown.”
