Hat tip to Trump for his unassailable SCOTUS pick

As a practicing Catholic I believe he will have values that align with my own. Actions in people's personal lives influence their behavior in their professional endeavors. Maybe not 100%, but there is definitely a correlation.

How about: He's a right wing ideologue who worked for ideologue Ken Starr?

Gorsuch voted to shred voting rights to ensconce minority Republican rule, and so will Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh benefits from right-wing affirmative action, as one of the few pro-billionaire law students in his class at Yale.

(Yes, these apply to most all conservative judges. But guess what - most conservative judges are unqualified, hold wildly extreme views from the majority of the country and the majority of smart people who are not billionaire-supported, and don't deserve spots in any judgeship, never mind this one.)

He believes a President should not be prosecuted for criminal behavior in office, because he thinks that if Bill Clinton had not had to deal with his impeachment, etc., he might have gone after Osama Bin Laden and prevented 9/11.

That's nuts. Presidents should be held accountable for criminal behavior like anyone else.

Your statement is not totally accurate.

But the top recommendation is for Congress to pass legislation that defers civil lawsuits and criminal charges and investigations until after the president leaves office. Kavanaugh wrote that this would require an extension of the statute of limitations, to ensure the president can face any pending legal proceedings after leaving office.

If the president did something “dastardly” during his term, there’s always impeachment, Kavanaugh added.

Kavanaugh’s position in this article is different from saying the president can’t be indicted under existing law. If he thinks the law already bars an indictment of the sitting president, as some Democrats claim he does, why would he call on Congress to pass a law that shields the president from criminal charges?

“Kavanaugh’s most recent financial disclosure forms reveal assets between $15,000 and $65,000, which would put him at the bottom of the financial ranking of justices, most of whom list well over $1 million in assets. The value of residences is not subject to disclosure.”

Don't worry, he will be fine. Kavanaugh will get a raise in two months. The value of his book deals just shot up dramatically. He will also get a full pension when he retires.

The more shocking part of the story is he has no real assets. The guy is way underwater. Where is all his money going? Gambling? Some other vice?

This was my thought. Much more likely than spending $200,000 on Nats tickets.

Read the article linked. It is explained there.... public sector employee, daughters in private schools, wife makes a very modest income ($66,000). This is not hard, folks.

He graduated law school in 1990 and has worked since then. He was a partner at Kirkland and Ellis for a while in the 90's and 00's. They bought a $1.2 million house in 2006 so they weren't doing too badly then. Where has all his money gone?

Probably into his house. And, then the private school tuition, Nats tickets, other living expenses.
Folks here are always talking about how a $300,000 salary doesn’t go far in DC.

Not much. He still owes $835K on a mortgage of $1.2M. Not a good steward of money. Maybe he should put the girls in public school.

But then he wouldn’t have been able to brag about them being at Blessed Sacrament in his speech, signaling his Catholic prolife bonafides.

Sorry, but there is no way in hell he spent that money on Nats tickets for "friends who reimbursed him....eventually."

No. Way.

Begin using the far more factual “anti-choice.”

And LOL to the credit card debt. My heart goes out to the poor people, the people who live paycheck to paycheck, those who get into credit card debt for medical reasons. People who have his kind of money and a just stupid and irresponsible? They make me sick. You couldn’t get a GS-4 job with a quarter of that debt and we want to elevate someone like that to the SC? I guess Trump has learned from Putin: get people on your side who have to be on your side.

Disturbing images of Kavanaugh practicing his Catholic faith.

Agree. Anyone who runs up a six figure debt only to have it mysteriously paid off is probably not worthy of a Supreme Court nomination. I wouldn't hire a coffee boy with such a record.

Some seriously well timed signaling right there. Based on his financial situation, he should be taking home a doggy bag.

Oh, please. He does this regularly.

Scott McCaleb has been a friend since he and Kavanaugh attended rival Jesuit high schools in 1980. (Kavanaugh was two years ahead of Gorsuch at Georgetown Preparatory School.) McCaleb said the service-oriented education they received has defined the judge's life. He has mentored underprivileged children, served meals to the homeless and coached his daughters' Catholic Youth Organization basketball teams.

“He really lives the Jesuit mantra of being a man for others," McCaleb said. "He does it in so many ways.”

Who amongst us has not spent $200,000 they don't have on baseball tickets? LOL

Maxing credit cards AND taking a loan on his TSP??

What the heck is he doing living in Chevy Chase?? Might I suggest public schools for the gals and moving to Frederick, sir?

Watching the liberals here freak out about a man who likes baseball and has debt is actually kind of humorous.
It shows you really have nothing. No viable arguments against this nominee.

That's a term used by those who think abortions are okay to minimize what's really occurring as babies are aborted. We all have MANY choices in this world and many decisions to make on a daily basis. Being pro-life does not mean anti-choice.

And you aren't a lawyer who lives in DC. Those of us who are, who have taken the public service route, and are contemporaries of Judge Kavanaugh, understand why his finances, this debt, its sketchy explanation and its sudden disappearance are red flags. It's not normal.
