ABC cancels 'Roseanne' after racist Twitter rant

Anonymous
And Trump has now - of course - made Roseanne's cancelation ALL ABOUT HIM:

Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?

My god! Doesn't he have more important things to do, like running a country, than whining on Twitter in the middle of the day?

Fox will probably take up the show though

And that assumes the other members of the cast would want to continue. I'm not so sure about that.

Wanda Sykes already jumped ship after the apology.

But Wanda is allowed to tweet

"White people don't steal wallets, they steal whole countries."

Isn't that racist?

Don't people call the President "a cracker wanna be Cheeto" on live TV?

Isn't that racist?

I can not stand Trump or Roseanne, but consequences have to run both ways. Kathy Griffin is already back doing stand-up and shows. Could you imagine if she did the same when Obama was president? There is a double standard here and racism will never end if BOTH sides are not held accountable.

The double standard is that Al Franken was force out while Trump is still President despite being an admitted pussy grabber.

Everything else is just noise.

Thanks for playing though.

Are you really suggesting that Kathy Griffin should never be allowed to work again? Since you believe in consistency, are you also suggesting that Roseanne should never again be employed for stand-up for a show?

Wanda Sykes' remark was not racist. Rather, it is an example of comedy being used to make a political point.

There is truly nothing sadder than white people struggling to demonstrate that they are oppressed.

I was thinking the same thing. I am a middle-age Black woman. I loved the first iteration of the Roseanne show. There were two episodes in particular that really resonate with me 20 years later... 1) when DJ participated in teasing a Black girl in gym class; Roseanne let him have it, and 2) during the Rodney King riots in LA she and Tom Arnold's character were also looting AND she showed two Black characters from A Different World who weren't looting. I thought that those were very deliberate and thoughtful episodes and I really appreciated those storylines.

Fast forward... I just have a hard time believing that Roseanne was a closet, gross racist all those years. I didn't watch the "new" Roseanne because of everything that she's done and said since the first one went off the air. This whole thing makes me so sad. Valerie Jarrett, by all accounts, is a lovely, accomplished woman who doesn't deserve to be the focal point of her racist rhetoric; no one does. I mean... she literally DID NOT care about all of the people who earn a living working on her show. I'm sad because people like Roseanne just cannot process that the collateral damage does more harm to their ilk than their targets. Valerie Jarrett will be just fine. She will continue to earn a living. The people working on the Roseanne show that may have been out of work for a while or had an opportunity to resurrect a dormant acting career... she set those people back and affected their livelihoods.

Her racist views don't bother me as much as her disregard for how those views impact people that depended on her for a living.

I'm hopeful that this will be a shift that causes people to really rethink how they use their platform.

I agree. I am white, but I actually liked the new reboot. DJ married a black woman, they were both military. She had a biracial grand daughter. Her grandson was gender nonconforming. The political views of the Metcalf and her and showing that you can have different views, but agree to disagree and still love each other. The pharmaceutical nightmares the elderly have. Healthcare issues. New administration really hasn't change anything for middle America (does it ever no matter who is in office?) She had Sara and Wanda helping her write these great story lines. You have the right side watching these story lines. It had so much potential. I just can not believe she wanted to be on a show sending out these messages to right wing America and she has been a racist all this time. I think people say and do stupid things in anger and racism seems to be an easy target to get under someone's skin. Both sides. Social media is a hate fest and will continue to be so. I am glad she had consequences, but I would have much rather her be killed off and let the show go on with Metcalf coming in to help the house. There are so many good people on that show and behind the scenes that just lost their jobs that did nothing. It sucks.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

The guy who wrote the NPD section of the DSM says that Trump doesn't have NPD because he doesn't suffer negative consequences from it. Instead, Trump relishes it. Rather he said society's sanity should be examined for putting up with Trump as president.

The difference is that Franken apologized, Trump hasn't.

Decent people view an apology as a positive gesture and usually reciprocate with the same level of generosity and good faith.

Leftists however view any apology as (1) an admission of Guilt and (2) a sign of Weakness that needs to be exploited.

Never apologize to Leftists.

This is one of the big reasons Donald Trump drives the Left into such a frothing rage. He never apologizes, never admits guilt and appears to have no sense of shame whatsoever — and he keeps getting away with it no matter how loudly they scream and stomp their feet. Their entire schtick revolves around shame and guilt: when the Commander in Chief refuses to go along with their show trial, it shows just how impotent they really are.

Seriously? You have a hard time believing this? I'm a black woman too and I have a hard time believing you believe this.
'She's so nice to me, how can she be racist?"
The chick is batshit crazy, and a big time conspiracy theorist, and it looks like black folk are front and center of some those crazy ass conspiracies.
