We have 4 kids in our street who went to UVA. They did not go to tj.

UVA is a safety for TJ kids. TJ kids attend UVA only for the cheap tuition.

And here we go again. This is like Groundhog Day. You really haven’t gotten any of what we’ve been saying. For top base school kids, UVA is also a safety. You don’t need TJ!

Except to get a real education.

If the top base school kids don’t get a “real education, then how is it that they are able to get into the same shcools as those almighty TJ grads?

Almighty TJ kids do not usually attend UVA. Average or below average TJ kids attend UVA to avoid student loans.

Which is it? Are they attending UVA bc they are average or just bc of financial concerns? Earlier someone posted it wasn’t bc they were average...no TJ grad could possibly be average was implied. It was declared that UVA was a TJ grad’s safety school. It had to be solely due to finances (donut hole families). Now you’re singing a different tune...interesting.

You didn’t really answer my question. Maybe you should polish up your own reading comprehension skills.

Again, I have seen several posts saying UVA was merely a TJ student’s back up school. Now you’re saying the students at TJ who go to UVA are actually just average. How is that possible if UVA was merely their back up school? The wouldn't be average then. Get it?

Average student at TJ would be in the top 1% at a regular high school.

So average at TJ is basically equal to some of the top kids at base school. And that’s pretty darn good. That’s the point I have been making, you don’t necessarily need TJ.

That's like saying an average MIT grad and top 10% GMU grads are same. Sorry to bust your bubble but they are just not equal.

For those who can't make it in.

TJ is the best high school in the country with no tuition!

Yes. Free tuition is the best part.

Yes. Let the suckers pay for TJ and only dream of sending their kids.

Suckers are not happy.

The average TJ kid had to have come from a base school, no? Whereas the average MIT student sure as hell did not come from GMU. So Your anaology doesn’t work, sorry.

TJ is the Nathan Chen of high schools - all hype but doesn’t deliver in the end.
