This is a horrible feeling as a survivor, to realize you were chosen for your relative weakness, that your attacker knew people would be less likely to care about what happens to you or believe what you have to say.

Imagine how it feels as a child, or as an adult coming to terms with how their childish trust and weakness were exploited.

Over the years that I have posted here I have often been called a misandrist for my jaded views. But as a former prosecutor who handled far too many sexual assault cases both adult and child victims, I have good reason for my feelings. There are so many monsters out there, walking around with the masks of grandfathers, fathers, uncles brothers sons and friends. Teacher troop leader coach clergy neighbor. Everybody wants to think the monster is in somebody else’s closet or under somebody else’s bad, but the monster is just as likely in your house, no matter how much you refuse to see. And that’s how monsters thrive.

This continues because people turn the other way. I told my mother my stepfather was sexually abusing me she ignored me and didn't care. How do you ever recover from that? Anyway you are right someone is supporting these monsters to continue and it needs to stop. You are either for or against rapist, sexual abuse, looks like Ashton and his wife are for it. Matterson's wife Bijou Phillips also supports it. This is unacceptable.

Doesn’t Kutcher do some anti-human trafficking work? Makes one wonder what he is really up to.

People have begun digging into his organization’s claims and the stats are bunk. Seems to be some sort of sham PR organization for reputation laundering.

Whatever Masterson has on Ashton must be really, really bad.

There’s no other reason why a working actor with a reputation to protect would stick his neck out like this for a rapist.

I glanced through who wrote the letters and noticed his brother Chris Masterson (was on Malcolm in the Middle) didn’t have a letter. Did he write one and it was omitted?

I find it ridiculous they chose to do this but were not ready to explain or justify it to anyone. Like they really thought it would raise NO QUESTIONS WHATSOEVER that they are willing to sign their extremely famous names to letters supporting a convicted rapist, when the details of the trial that include absolutely horrifying allegations are public?

Their letters both emphasize that Danny does not and has never done drugs, but it is hard for me to understand how people who are not currently high AF do something this stupid. Like if they want to support their friend, I guess that's their prerogative. It's a free country and if you want to support a violent rapist, far be it from me to tell you how to live your life. But the idea that you expect to do that and for there to be no social or publicity consequences... I mean, these are people who definitely have multiple full PR flacks working for them. Did they just ignore them? Or are they really bad at their jobs? I don't get it.

Ironic that he doesn’t use drugs himself but drugged these women when he raped them.

Yes, I noted that too. In that light, the repeated comments in the letters of support saying "Danny doesn't do drugs and advised all his friends not do drugs either" make it seem nefarious, like "Danny doesn't do drugs because then his head is clear when he drugs women to rape them, plus if they report it, they'll have drugs in his system and he won't, so he can just say 'whatever, she is high and a drug addict and not to be trusted.'" Like in light of what he was convicted of, it just makes him sound really controlling and strategic about his image. It doesn't make me think "oh wow, he doesn't do drugs, what a fine person he must be." I don't do drugs and they honestly kind of scare me, but I've known plenty of people who smoke pot or have done other drugs who are not rapists, so...

Ashton and his wife need to explain themselves even though there is no justification of their actions we are all bewildered here. You can't have a business of trying to stop sex trafficking, testify in front of congress, then tell a judge that 5 women are liars about being raped. You can't. They are just silent now?

I guess he didn't like to see how badly the drugs affected all of his rape victims. Must have scared him huh? What a total discusting animal. I hope he gets some karma in jail. Daily.

The mysterious and annoying thing about those character letters is that they acknowledge the conviction and go out of their way to say they aren't challenging it. So they accept they raped these women. But THEN they argue that he should spend less time in prison because he's such a good friend to them.

The only remotely compelling argument in any of those letters is the fact that he has a 9 yr old daughter with whom he appears to be close, and you can make an argument that a judge should consider her well being and the harm of losing her father to prison. Incarceration that breaks up families is a genuine issue in this country and I'm not going to ignore that just because this family is rich and white. BUT this is really only mentioned a couple times and somewhat in passing. The emphasis is on "he's just such a wonderful person, I simply can't imagine him doing what he was convicted of doing. I guess he did because you say he did, but please go easy on him anyway."

It's a very, very bad look IMO.

I guess you didn't see milas posts where she's basically saying it's bs. Go back a few posts someone already posted the link. They don't think these 5 women are telling the truth!!!

I don’t get why Ashton and Mila would do this. First, Ashton fired him from his show when the accusations came out so why do this now? I would say I won’t support any of their future projects but I doubt they have anything worth supporting anyways.

+100 same it's shocking after hearing the details of him raping 5 women. How is anyone ok with this. People have been cancelled for a lot less in hollywood, but everyone seems to be ok with this??? I don't get it!

I was reading about Jane Doe 1 describing her attack and when she was begging Masterson to stop and trying to fight her off he held a gun to her head and told her to “shut the F up”. This testimony was out and know and these people wrote these letters anyway. Ashton Kutcher is still posting on Instagram like nothing has happened. Doesn’t he even have daughters?! WTAF?! none of this is ok. What happened to the victims, and what these supporters are doing for Masterson.

I read Phillips letter and she’s completely removed from reality. She says he’s such a good father because he takes their daughter to ballet and started a second career as a sommelier. I can’t even with these people. There aren’t even words.

This is sort of Bijou’s MO though. She also claimed her half-sister was lying about being sexually assaulted by their father. And she was a menace back in the day assaulting people and being unprofessional.

Also, there are letters from Billy Baldwin, as well as from the actors who played the parents on That 70s show.

I didn’t see hers as any worse than the others. All the stupid anti drug nonsense is just that- stupid and irrelevant to the crimes he committed. So what that he is anti-drug. All Scientologists are, even the medically beneficial drugs, so it’s no great shock that he’s anti drugs. For himself.
