I never liked Ms. Hoover |
My child chose Blair SMAC because we were unimpressed with her too... |
There are many people who should be out, but they're just shuffled around. Either they're protected by a higher entity or they have good lawyers. not sure why Hoover is out - But she's no longer in the system. |
I felt that RM principle and MCPS didnt want to talk about Ms. Hoover. The parents and current students love her but the principle's tone sounds like Ms. Hoover's disappearence has something to do with her own mishaps, either she did something wrong or she didnt want to be there anymore. |
People who are terrible do get shuffled around, but people with options in bad working conditions choose to leave on their own. If someone leaves the system entirely, it's more likely that they took another job than they were fired. The worst of the worst are the ones just moved. |
or rather I should say just placed. their principal changes the allocations so their position is cut, they interview elsewhere in the county with no success but have tenure or whatever so the county then has to find them a job somewhere. |
MCPS moves people all the time and sometimes people want to be moved. School administrators are always moving around and changing, so just because they are moved doesn't mean they are bad. And you can't really change the "allocation" for school administrators. Each school gets a set number, but this situation is different. The school held a meeting a few weeks ago about the changes, and essentially even though he says it differently, the principal has taken the administrator/leader away from the program. My oldest child graduated from SMACS. RM no longer has a Mr. Ostrander. The new guy that was hired, he just sat there and didn't speak. The principal and the teacher did all the talking, and people from central office, and it wasn't very convincing. People left wondering why. |
I thought they now have 2 people instead of one...seems like they should be able to provide the same services? |
I know many folks unimpressed with Hoover. My kids are doing fine without her. |
More like 2 people who always disagree what the correct services should be and the principal breaks the deadlocks...
Not that the new situation is any worse than the old one where the principal would never go along with Ms Hoover's ideas. In general, while I didn't like Ms Hoover particularly, her vision of where the program should go is closer to mine. While I do like the principal, I don't think he has his own vision for the program and that alone puts RMIB people off. He just knew that MCPS was going to make BIG changes if Ms Hoover dug in and fought all change. The BIG changes have started. "I thought they now have 2 people instead of one...seems like they should be able to provide the same services?" |
You are trying to hide behind the anonymity of the forum to disparage a highly respected advocate for the program and the kids. She was well liked by most students and parents. If you really are telling the truth, explain why they were unimpressed with the service she provided. Otherwise, I will assume you are a liar. |
I do not understand what you are saying. Are you saying that Ms. Hoover dug her heel against changes MCPS wanted done to the program and Mr. Monteleone sided with MCPS and removed her? |
+ 1. I am sure people "not impressed with Hoover" did not have their students in the RMIB program. |
How can you be sure of this? |
Not that poster. .but why is it fine to condemn the new staff before the first month of school was complete but not ok to have an opinion on the former staff. |
