A PR nightmare for this guy, who advised his to go there?

The call for this visit came from the Dept of Ed to Hogan's office. With no notice to MCPS, the call was made to Carderock. Spending his day at Carderock was NOT Dr. Smith's decision. If you want to bash anyone for visiting a school in a more affluent area with less diversity than you make find acceptable, bash DeVos and her cronies.

This was a horrible tragedy, but making statements that Dr. Smith doesn't care about children is way off base.

MCPS certainly did have a hand in placing Hogan and DeVos at Carderock. In fact, we had no idea she was visiting. We heard it from a friend who lives down South! The county kept it quiet and I'm 100% certain that they purposely didn't choose a downcounty school.

Furthermore, I know people who have been in meetings with Smith. They're certainly not productive for all parties involved.

Ask Calvert County folks how they felt after he left and was temporarily placed in MSDE. They were jumping for joy. Ask MSDE how they felt about having him there - however short the term was.

And then suddenly he's with MCPS! And you know how Hogan feels about MCPS.
