What about the next time a child is killed in a parking lot? En route to or from where the parent's car is parked on the street & the school/store/post office/drycleaners?

If the parents say they did everything they could to prevent it, that's one thing. Taking a risk like this--against the advice of doctors, teachers, police, principals, auto manufacturers, car seat manufacturers--that means you are irresponsible.

Let me guess- OP and all of the outraged only have one child.

You'll remember this thread and how silly you are when you have subsequent children.

I've wanted to leave my older baby in my running vehicle, with the doors locked (this is a thing in some vehicles). The school has a private parking lot. I was terrified of other parents freaking out. My husband thought I was being ridiculous. I'll show him this thread!!!

Here ya go. Cop's kid

Two Long Beach police officers are on paid administrative leave after a child was left in a hot car and died shortly afterward Friday.

Mom and other cop were "visiting" for 4 hours.

The sad thing too is that baby was taken from the cop before and given back to her killer.

This situation has virtually nothing in common with that situation. You're simply trying to pull on emotional strings to avoid the logical conclusion that what happened here was perfectly safe.

Every single one of you would have a shit fit if a Nanny did this and would fire her on the spot and tell any prospective employer that she endangered the life of your child. I would report this mother in a heartbeat because she is also endangering the life of her child. One can only guess at the other ways she endangers their lives. CPS should investigat and children removed from house.

You are insane. I'm guessing you've never seen actual child abuse. Spoiler: this isn't it.

Because IMO, the only reason for this kind of post is to shame the mom who left the kid in the car. We moms need to help each other instead of competing and judging.

It's better than gossiping about it in the preschool. Especially if it turns out that she was WRONG. Maybe there was a grown up or responsible older kid in the car that the Op didn't see. Maybe another mom was watching the vehicle from her car.

It's better to see a concern like this voiced on an anonymous thread than whispers and gossip in the halls of a preschool...

I don't think either one is acceptable, actually.

Nope, wouldn't.

Why? The preschool hasn't been named, the parent has been named, the child hasn't been named. We don't even know what state this was in. Talking about something that happens with a fairly regular frequency at just about any preschool out there is not personal. It's a parenting topic.

Strange that you appear to think this should all be hush, hush and never discussed. WTH?

I would have a fit if a nanny did this with my child because *I* don't leave my kids in running cars like that. But if that was something that I didn't have a problem doing myself why wouldn't I be fine with a trusted nanny doing it too as long as she was using reasonable judgement?

Well, this all went exactly how I knew it would when I left my last post on it 9 hours ago. Brava, DCUM. Brava.

Tell the center director. Maybe they can arrange for a staff member to take her kid out or go with another parent leaving around the same time. But don't MYOB - it is not ok for her to take this unnessary risk with an infant.

Nope. I have three. I have never once left a child in a car, and I never will.

On a cool day, MYOB.

This is a person who "always" scans parking lots for dirty deeds - I can see her coordinating her arrival time.
