Laura Trevelyan's accent

Anonymous
I socialized a while ago with 20 Brits from east Anglia. Nineteen of them could not understand one fellow, a farmer from The Fens--a nearby lowlands. English accents are more varied, over shorter distances, than here in the US where you have to go one or two hundred miles to hear a different sound. Laura has a rather unique sound. It is hers. Good for her.

I really wanted to hear about the Brexit agreement and was delighted to hear O'Brian instead of the gritty voice of Travelyan. Not sure if the BBC realizes how much Travelyan is despised as an Anchor.

I totally agree with all the negative comments about Laura
Trevalian's accent, and presentation on BBC. I don't care it her husband is a big wig on ABC. I literally turn OFF the TV each time she comes on camera to announce the next item, or if she is interviewing anyone. I listen only to the correspondents' on BBC World. Get her off the air!

With 14 pages of negative comments, how can they keep her on BBC News? Her husband must be very powerful. She is dreadful to listen to.

We have a hard time understanding the quacks that come out of LT's mouth. We understand her reluctance to open her mouth (after all, she's a Brit), but she is in an employment situation where she has to communicate clearly, and that requires not smashing her vocalisms down to 1/4" high. Note that her mouth widens rather than opens. If I had my druthers I'd never watch/listen to her broadcasts, but I am not the only person in our house. There is absolutely no similarity to Katty Kay's vocal production.

I adore all British accents EXCEPT I find Laura Trevelyan's absolutely excruciating. I can barely listen for more than a few minutes. I thought it was a South African accent, but no? Anyone know? I dearly wish we could lose Laura for our very meager 30 minutes of BBC news in America. Please make it go away!

I think it is a working ckass accent trying to sound posh
It fails miserably. She does sound bad and difficult to listen to. I wonder why they keep her on the air.

She sounds awful. Why are we subjected to this? Does she know the right people?

I agree with the comments above. This woman has a horrid voice for television. On Radio I would switch immediately. On television ,,,,,,I do the same.

PLEASE!! GET RID! _________ OF Laura TREVALYAN as BBC News America anchor!!!!

She just quacks like a DUCK. sounds like a DUCK!

Get her away from the anchor desk. Where is JANE O'BRIEN???
She is such a pleasure to watch AND listen to.

It's her voice, not her accent. She needs to speak from the diaphragm, not the nose. Mandatory voice control training is in order, immediately. Can anyone contact BBC directly? Maura C.

It is so good during the Holidays.......we don't have to suffer with Travelian. She should be dumped asap.

OMG....she is back. I didn't know about this site nor the fact that so many believe her to be awful. It was great during the Holidays when she was off. Now she is back and we can't watch the BBC News.
