Will the PCSB move to force LAMB to back-fill after PK4?

I note PP who has claimed on more than one thread that anyone who says that it's not a good idea to incorporate kids without Montessori experience into the elementary classroom can't possibly know what they are talking about because they must only have a three year old has not come back to apologize or admit that she was wrong when faced with information that directly contradicts her erroneous assertion. PP, I really hope I don't meet you in person.

Me? Aww.

Yes, I was a terrible person for suggesting that I had seen successful Montessori integration. You, having elementary school children IN Montessori doesn't disprove that at all. And, it looks like LAMB is adding kids in, so it looks like I was right.

But have a nice day.

Me having elementary kids in Montessori proves you were wrong in your repeated assertions that anyone who disagreed with you didn't know what they were talking about because their kid was still in primary. It's beyond obnoxious of you. I truly hope I never have to meet you in person because the way you tout your "superior" Knowledge based on less than one year of Montessori while denigrating anyone else fails to show even a modicum of "grace and courtesy".

Also, btw, back filling k spaces doesn't prove your assertion that it's easy or ideal to bring in multiple kids at the elementary level without a Montessori background. As you clearly have only an arbitrary understanding of Montessori, it's good to note here that K is not elementary.

You are obsessed.

That is not my problem.

We have probably already met in person.

I never claimed to be an expert on Montessori, I just don't like pedagogic snobs. Elementary school education of any kind is certainly challenging, and involves many different approaches. And yet, at the same time, when it's not about rockets, it is not rocket science. Your exclusionist tendencies are annoying, and I think speak to some other social things you're trying to exclude your children from.

Wow. You're nuts.

First anyone who disagrees with you doesn't have a valuable opinion because their kids must still be scrubbing tables (or whatever), then you claim to know me and that I'm trying to exclude my kids from some "other social things". Women, you are crazy. And, no, whoever you apparently think I am, you are wrong.

And for the record, I think that LAMB absolutely did the right thing by opening up K to applications - LAMB is a public school after all. I also think it would be just fine if they take a couple of kids per year in the lower and upper el classes (though would require some adjustments and challenges). But your insistence that to do so with many students is a simple easy process without any implications either for the new non-Montessori students or for the existing elementary classroom is ignorant and just shows how little you understand the method.

For those on the wait list, I don't think that calls will go out for another month or so yet. They still need to confirm with perry street prep that they can have the additional space. But I do think they will overcome those hurdles and the expansion will move forward...

Perry St Prep is really underenrolled right? Any chance LAMB will ever take over the whole building? Don't care either way but wonder if anyone has any insight.

Nope. LAMB will move everyone to WR in the future.

One issue flagged in the approved proposal is that LAMB and DCI and the DCPCSB need to address the problem of enough DCI feeder seats for LAMB students.

The problem is a few years off but right now LAMB only has 50 feeder seats available for its graduates -- and this new expansion means as many as 75 LAMB graduates in the future.

So this no doubt will get worked out piece by piece but any further expansion is off the table for a while.

Thanks for the update. I thought they had already signed a binding agreement with Perry Street Prep? I could be wrong, but thought I read that somewhere.

That's what it said in the approved application to the charter school board:

"On March 4, 2016, LAMB PCS signed a binding letter of intent with Perry Street Preparatory Public Charter School (Perry Street Prep PCS) to sublease 9,960 square feet of additional space on the second floor of Perry Street Prep PCS’s facility. The extra
space will give LAMB PCS access to ten classrooms, offices, closets, and restrooms. By acquiring more space, LAMB PCS may provide more DC students the opportunity to attend a high-quality Montessori public charter school."
