No, we have completely different body shapes. She is 5'9 and has been obese/plus size for years, with a large frame. I'm 5'4 and have a petite frame, size 6. I have a daughter and her body shape mirrors my mom with the tall and big frame. I worry for her in the future. |
Size 6 at your height is far from petite. Petite in your mind only! |
Yes, i am heavier than my mother and her side of the family. All my childhood I was compared to them. Huge body issues thanks to that. I am now in my 30s and I still refuse to eat in front of my mother. |
No but we have different body types. My siblings and I are all built differently too. |
My mom was fairly obsessive about diet and exercise in her 40s. I once had to go to the hospital with pneumonia in college and lost 20 lbs (at 5’3 when from 120 to 100) and my mom told me how great I looked at my “smaller size.” She forgets to eat, especially now with memory problems. So she’s 5 feet and about 90 lbs. I’m 5’3” and about 140. My sister is 5’6” and about 130. |
Is there some weight obsessed weirdo replying to all of these? 5'4 size 6 is petite. It is literally petite sizing. |
Do 5’4” people buy petite sizing? I’m 5’5” and have never bought petite sizing or thought about it. |
Yes. My mom is a “fitness professional” with lifelong disordered eating. I’d rather carry a few extra pounds (maybe 10 pounds) vs never enjoy food or drinks like my mom. I eat what I want when I want, I try to move my body as much as feels good. I’m glad my daughter sees this balance than the nonsense I grew up with |
No. I am smaller and have been since my 20's. We are Both petite (5'2"-ish). She's 70 and I am 50. I weight about 110 and she probably weighs 125 or so. We have both been mindful of our weight and health since an early age. However, I do know of many people who are exactly as you describe where the younger women are much bigger. I believe it has to do with the standard American diet and convenience food everyone eats, not to mention soda, junk food, stress, etc.. |
Both my mom and MIL lost a lot of weight in their 70s because (a) their health started deteriorating and their doctors kicked their butts in gear and (b) they were retired and had time to spend an hour at the gym every day |
Literarily "petite" in let's make you think you are petite so you will buy more of our clothes, you are short, for sure, but not slim. |
At my dd's HS cheer team, many teens are heaver than their moms. |
Oh just what DCUM needed, an anorexia troll. |
You are clueless. Yes, she technically doesn't attend La Petite Preschool. In women's sizing petite means 5'4" and shorter. 22P is not skinny and very plus-size. Size 2 in Misses is very thin but tall/medium. All--ignore this ignorant fat-shaming poster. -Lest you think it's sour grapes I'm a 0/2P/XXS. |
My mom once told me she would drink hot water to avoid being hungry.
So, you know, glad I'm not doing that. (I'm on the lower end of the normal BMI so I'm not overweight by any means, just not anorexia thin like my mom was at my age). |
