A thread for ugly women

BUT I am a dark skinned black woman, which means that I belong to a demographic that people think it is okay to call masculine and ugly. Many people that I deal with think that I am beautiful, but just as many think that all black women are ugly, especially dark skinned ones, and treat me with a racist/colorist contempt that is really quite unique to black women. Try being attractive, but standing next to a fat, short, objectively ugly woman and having the door slammed in your face while it was held open for her because she is white, Asian, or anything except black. Now, THAT is a mindfuck.

What? I thought Lupita Nyongo showed yet again that dark skin is beautiful.

Would you feel better if the door was slammed in someone else's face, because she was "objectively ugly"? I'd say you get what you deserve.

If you're clean and you smell good, someone has GOT to like you.

Of course dark skin is beautiful, but do you think racists are going to change because of Lupita Nyong'o or countless other examples of stunning black women?

In your hurry to be a prick, you missed the point.

Just went to university reunion. Woman who was one of the least "attractive" women in our class - and came in for some pretty unclassy treatment from our oafish male classmates - had aged way better than the rest of us - in fact looked better than all those years ago. Her husband was with her, not handsome but warm and kind and successful.

Some who were "pretty" back in the day had aged not so well (and others had gotten interventions).

Bottom line - we're all going to be old and grizzled and white haired and bent over one day. (Either that or we'll be dead.) For some, it will be a big comedown. For others, it will be great to finally be as "good looking" as everyone else.

Delayed gratification?

Cut the crap. This isn't rocket science; we all know what is ugly and what is pretty. This thread doesn't have to turn into some condescending counseling session so the pretties can pretend to feel good about themselves.

You sound angry.

You sound annoying.

Someone mentioned freckles?

Mmhm,. I was cursed with freckles all over. I have always felt that it made me ugly. I still had boyfriends but I think they saw them the freckles) as something to overlook. I wear makeup now which helps.

What! Ask julianne moore if freckles are ugly! They are not!

A face without freckles is like a sky without stars...

I could have written this post. Treatment is exponentially different now that I've gained some weight. For example, no one says, "you look great" anymore, even when I have gone to some effort to dress nicely, wear makeup, do my hair, etc. When DS was a baby and I lost weight, I was amazed at how many people opened doors for me and they didn't when I still had the baby weight. I guess fat moms don't need or deserve help.
