The composite cogat score was above cut off, which is what they used this year, not sections. I'd think about getting a WISC done and see how that shakes out.

I wonder if any parents get mad at the teachers who give low GBRS ratings, especially those who end up with high scores, and presumably don't get in because of GBRS. If it were me I'd probably have a chat with the teacher to see what was going on. It would be an awkward convo.

We are going to have that awkward conversation. Mad no, perplexed yes. Thank you for recommending getting a WISC done.

Get clue. The NNAT is good, COGAT even stronger. The lowest possible GBRS score is the red flag here.

In pool, didn't prep. GBRS commentary focused on DC's character, creativity, leadership and facilitation skills, behavior during recess, artistic work, ability to learn concepts quickly, and advanced reading interests/level.

I wish the selection process was more transparent and predictable. Our DC was added to the pool, had similar #s, but was not selected:

NNAT: 134
CogAT: 122
GBRS: 12

Just took WISC-IV and will be appealing per recommendation from the psychologist who conducted the test.

My child had similar scores and was not accepted either. Do you mind sharing the Wisc result?

Haven't received the written report yet, but VCI and POI were in very superior and superior ranges. WMI and PSI were in the average ranges. The last two subset scores brought the FSIQ down to 122. The psychologist said the WMI and PSI scores were due to her perfectionism personality (if she wasn't 100% certain about the answer, she either didn't answer or just pulled one out of thin air). It was interesting to hear that from the psychologist who only saw her for an hour when this is something we've always struggled with her. Even though her FSIQ isn't AAP-worthy (per this forum's standard), the psychologist recommended that we appeal since her VCI and POI scores are high. I'm hoping the WISC report mentioning the reason behind the low WMI and PSI scores will be noted by the AAP review board.

I am 16:47. He is in a public school. I am going to meet with AART tomorrow to get a copy of the screening file. So, we can figure it out what could be a reason. I know there is no written explanation to why and why not. I also scheduled WISC-IV test for him. Will keep you posted. I am so curious as to why they asked for test scores but high scores were not recognized. He is one of top kids in the class, too.

to 10:47. I got a call from GMU yesterday but it was too late for me. I already made an appointment with a private examiner a few days ago. I think GMU are calling people who have left their massages with them. You may get a call soon. But if it is too long to wait, I think you should get it done privately. It will cost slight more but not so much more. I am paying 400 dlrs, flat rate. GUM will cost 380 dlrs but you can get a fee DAS test too as it is part of there research project. Good luck.

to 20:14, it costs 380 dlrs at GMU with a free DAS test. And around 400 dlrs plus at private practice.

Does private practice share the the results reports earlier than 14 days of conducting tests?

Can you share which private/doctor you're going to? I'm looking for one.
