This did not have to be.
The father and her parents are completely complicit here.

Two things can be true at once.

Her father was responsible for her that day, and he let her be alone with the children. He and only he is responsible and should be charged.

The husband was at work and the father and only the father was responsible for her during this time.

AND she killed them. And while she should not have been alone with them, she was not insane. She was mentally ill. She knew what she was doing, and she could’ve stopped herself. She stopped herself from doing it in front of her father so she’s not completely insane.

It was planned she did two kids separately. This was not a fit of rage or a psychosis.

She needs to be charged and her father needs to be charged.

I have no sympathy for her. I have tremendous sympathy for someone like Andrea Yates.

I hope she goes to jail for the rest of her life.

She is mentally ill, but she is not insane.

She knew what she did was wrong and that’s why she hid it. If she was truly insane, she would’ve killed the children right in front of her father.

Even if you’re mentally ill, you should be held accountable for your crimes.

If you are insane, then you go to a mental hospital.

She is a very intelligent, cold and calculated human who knows exactly what she did and she knows that was wrong and she needs to go to jail for it.

Do you think the Idaho guy should go to jail for killing all those people in that house?

That's a crazy assumption you just made -- because she didn't kill her children in front of their father, she should be held accountable as a sane person. We don't even know what happened to those children. One thing we DO know is that the mother is mentally ill.

I know the Aunt of the Hoggle children as she lived on my street. She said Catherine was very cold, calculating and had a lot of problems beforehand. They should have never left her home with the kids and honestly, she should have been living in a facility from the things that I was told. CPS should have been involved through the time she had the kids as well so there was documentation of the kids’ conditions (cleanliness, attention, meeting milestones). Sarah and Jacob were failed by the same awful system that failed those three beautiful girls who were killed by their father and the 9yo girl in NY killed by her father. So much sadness in this world and it does not have to be. Instead of worrying about wars that aren’t ours and people that do not belong here, we need to invest in worrying about Americans who are struggling and the mentally ill that live amongst us.

Her lawyer was on the news stating that he wants the murder charges dropped.

Those poor babies. I don't know if Catherine admitting what she did to a friend will give the kids father closure but I hope so.

Yes, she’s mentally ill but she’s also competent to stand trial. She is not insane.
