Name something that was a COMPLETE waste of money

Feng Shui consultant, I'm such a sucker.

Swim lessons at the county rec center. They were in deep water and my DD refused to swim across the pool. Now years later she is a swim team champion, but no thanks to those swim lessons.

Half of my $200 worth of groceries from WF today. I always suckered into buying the $6 little snacks and my kids don't like them. Bags of gourmet flavored nuts, seeds, chocolate covered coconut flakes, exotic flavors of kale chips. Ugh.

Am I the only one who did baby classes for ME? II had no friends with babies around the same age range as mine, and music together class was the only wash to make mom friends. Totally worth it for me. But yeah, if I had gone into it thinking my baby would learn something, I would agree it was a waste.

1.) High end appliances...they didn't preform any better and had a shorter shelf life then my middle of the line maytag ones beforehand. I am a pretty decent cook so I thought I would be able to tell a difference and really enjoy them but it just wasn't the case.
2.) Montessori preschool for DC 1 and 2. It was not a bad school, just super over priced. I found a little church basement preschool for DC 3 that did the exact same thing for about 60% less.

I absolutely hate my Samsung dishwasher. The only cycle that cleans anything is "heavy". I started it this morning at 10am and it is STILL RUNNING AT NEARLY 1 PM. The prongs also make for awkward placement of dishes/pans. I was SO much happier with our Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher in our previous home but DH wanted all Samsung.

Samsung is considered high end for appliances?

Yes, they are trying to get in the high end market. It will take a few years but eventually they will perfect it and give the high end companies a run for their money. Basically what they did for washer/driers and fridges.

NP. I will never purchase another Samsong appliance. Both the diswasher and installed microwave were horrible. I ended up trading down and better for a Maytag.

+ my samsung washer is horrible. tons of dirt and sand left in the bottom after washes.

Our brand new Samsung $2500 fridge died in 4 years. Never again. New house has a kitchen aid fridge and Bosch dishwasher, love both!

Bosch dishwasher, the stupid filter and having to towel dry plastics BLAH

No, you're not the only one. I actually did a Mommy & me class with my 12 week old, lol. Helped to preserve my sanity.

Both of my kids took rec center swim classes - totally worth it. They both had a blast, gained confidence in the water and learned how to swim independently. I'm honestly surprised at how many people here have said these classes were a waste of money for their kids.

My big wastes of money: 1) gym memberships - I sign up, go for a while and then lose my motivation and wind up paying for a membership that I'm not using...happens every time with me and gyms. 2) Bassinet - so cute but neither one of my kids would sleep in it after the first week.

Don't feel like an idiot. That's the game they play. 8+ hrs at a car dealership till you are exhausted and starving, ready to buy just to get out of there. Rest assured you are not alone. Never again, I'll be walking out!

Just smile and firmly say "No thank you." Repeat the three or four times that they ask. Refuse to engage in a discussion about it. Last time I bought a car they then said, "But the car you're buying already has it." I said, "Find me one without it, because I'm not paying for it." They ended up giving it to me for free. My guess is that it costs them virtually nothing to apply, so they go ahead and do it to all of the cars. Total scam.

Permanent eyeliner. I did it as a timesaver--my goal was to be able to get up and go and look great.

It looked awesome with mascara, but looked weird without mascara. So going makeup-less became a non-option. I had to put on mascara on every day; so much for the timesaving. And, looked ridiculous when I was running or hiking.

So I started to wait for the "gentle fade-out" that's supposed to start happening two years later.

Instead, it flaked off in parts and not in others, so then I had to put on eyeliner AND mascara every day to avoid looking like I slept in my makeup.

It's almost off now--probably 5 years later--but it still looks a little like I have old makeup on in a couple places if I go makeup-less.

If you're not good at these negotiations, just go to Costco or Carmax or USAA which have great no-hassle buying systems. Many of us will never ever ever go to any regular car dealer again.
