Seriously. It's not like AAP is an issue for the poors anyway.

Sigh. I hope you're being ironic. Because why the hell isn't it an issue for lower-income kids?? There are SERIOUSLY no intelligent low-income kids in Ffx County?? NONE? God.

Not that poster, but I believe this is an attempt at a humorous reference to an old thread about "stores for poors"

So does that mean it is age normed?

No - Composite can come more than subset scores, and doesn't mean age norming.

You don't know if the CogAT was 1 percentage point away from where it needed to be or 10 percentage points away. In this situation do you go ahead and request the letters, since you cannot wait until the last minute? By requesting you put it out there to several key people in your child's life that you are applying, when maybe you will find out in a few days' time that it is not very appropriate to apply, based on CogAT scores. Or you don't want to go all out and ask the piano teacher, etc., for letters. I would think letter writers will be asking later if DC got in. And it is extra work for them, apart from the embarrassment factor. I think deadline for receipt of application materials should be 2 weeks from receipt of scores.

In the past, pool letters went out over winter break. I think they do it later now so that people won't have time to get a parent referral package together. Which is completely obnoxious.

No. They. Did. Not. My land people. You are treating this like a college admission. This is SECOND GRADE in ELEMENTARY school, in one of the better school districts in the country, for ALL the elementary schools here. Please get a perspective on life.

I like you!!!!

But...yes, they did. My 5th grader's 2nd grade year, the letters went out over winter break. That wasn't intended to start a war, peeps. It's just a fact.

Interesting. When my 5th grade AAP student was in second, we didn't get the scores until mid-January, but I recall different schools sent them at different times.

No in pool letter but received CogAT score today. NNAT was 117 and CogAT is 75th percentile. Should I be expecting an in pool letter?

No. Only NNATs 132 and above and CogATs 95 above are in the pool.

Beyond frustrated; assuming not in pool even thought it's been the school heading my child for AAP.

But, still haven't seen the CogAt scores!

For those of you saying just fill out the form, I'm not interested in pushing my child. So, I want to know where he tested before making a decision.

As I know some parents received Pool Letters over the weekend; I can't rule out the pool.

Knowing some FFC admins are reading these post - FFC needs to post when each school sent out it's letters and it's scores so it doesn't drive parents batty!

I'm sure it would reduce the number of emails to the teachers, AAP resources, and administrators!

Are you new to the district? I think they will take the scores you have, but perhaps you should call the office to confirm.

yes I am new to fairfax county schools. so my kid never gave the NNATS in 1st grade, and the school said we do not need it, when we joined the second grade . but now i find out that since COGAT was not a national test this year, NNATS are important. totally confused now.
Now the school says they might have given him the test but they dont have the scores yet. But the parents were never informed and my kid is sure he did not write any other test oyther than COGAT(three days) what do i do? apparently the NNAT test results are not out yet
