I know a little girl who has a "normal" name (probably in the top 30-40) but has been called Birdie from the day she was born. Another one, same age, who goes by Goldie.

This isn't "out there" more annoying than anything I guess. I worked with a Brandi Ray and Tina Dawn. These were just there 1st names and they insisted on calling each other by the entire 1st name numerous times a day. It was so obnoxious! (this was at a job I did in West Virginia)

My cousin just named her baby boy Wilder. Maybe it's somehow a classic, but it just sounds like a non-name to me.

Not out there, but it was noticeable - my son's preschool has an Aiden, Ayden, Aeidon, and an Ay-den.

I just hear Celery when it's said out loud.

My colleague just told me about 2 of his former students. One is La-a which is pronounced Ladasha (yes, you pronounce the dash). The other one was a girl named Shithead but it is pronounced Shi-thead. Scary that anyone can be a parent, huh?

I've heard both these often enough that I'm leaning towards "urban legend".

La-a.

Pronounced as "La-dash-ah" and legally spelled as La-a.
