This is my guess. But LE doesn't have a rec program so not sure how they're selling a rec program as part of R(b)FC. They'd still need NCSL approval for that. Loudoun doesn't participate in NCSL rec - they have an in house program.

RBFC needs to run a rec program to get field space.

Some other clubs have tried various gimmicks to get rec sign ups. I think TSJ offered completely free rec games to try to juice their numbers to get field permits.

I think the rumor is they're using Sterling fields for fields. There is almost no way they are getting field space in Great Falls.

So is their "pathway" going to be the weird West Virginia thing?

I don’t see how Sterling has field space to give up.

So no tea spilt from the meeting? Why so secretive?

NDAs, they are kind of a big deal.

It would be almost impossible to enforce an NDA signed by attendees at a meeting open to the general public. I highly doubt anyone was asked to sign one.

NDAs would be an odd way to promote a product launch.

No one there would trust this forum!

In the meantime, they are probably just quietly and persistently reaching out to coaches and players. They just need numbers and only need to poach a few players to impact quality of other nearby clubs. Hopefully nearby clubs and coaches are checking in with their players and families because in the quiet of winter, the loudest, most persistent voice makes a difference. Persistent recruiting doesn't make them a good club to move to, but the loudest voice in kids' sports can certainly influence short term decisions and distract from long term thinking.

I would just think that if you’re trying to convince new kids/parents to join and you have good answers to the obvious questions — who will be coaching, where will practices be, what league will they be playing in — you’d want to get those answers out there.

Anyone who is familiar with how ML tried to take over GFR knows he does not plan things out very well

IF there is one thing I know, it's that RBFC will not have anything to do with Sterling. Come on people, Sterling is hanging out to survive, their kids are playing at Herndon and West VA just to have a "pathway"
