| Dave Grohl High School 💀 |
Same. Why are they considering high school names with just one vote when Oak Hill and Sully are top five? I'm another one who doesn't want it named after a person. My high school was a geographic/location name, and it was great. My middle school was renamed after an educator with an unfortunate name, especially for a middle school. Still cringeworthy decades later. |
Mascot = the Fighters? |
Skyview had ONE vote! It's a ridiculous name thst sounds like a restaurant in a skyscraper or a school in Big Sky, Montana. Oak Hill had tons of votes, as evidently listed on both page 1 and page 113 of the document with name suggestions. Oak Hill is the best choice. |
Agree. The post office is less than a mile away. Some people said it was "too close" to Oakton--yet "Western" is not close to Westfield? A lot of the people "mock" the use of Oak Hill, but it is a good name for the school as it identifies the area. My guess: they will name it after a person. Dumb idea. Living or dead, things get "discovered" later that are troubling. And, "Discovery?" "Endeavor" makes it sound like they are trying too hard to move into the 22nd Century. Something out of a movie. |

The only names I think are even reasonable are Western, Oak Hill, and possibly Sully. They are trying way too hard to push the space/aviation theme. |
| I'm going to the meeting to tell them an astronaut is a stupid idea. There are already high schools in the area named Discovery and Innovation. |
Agree, but this is Reid interposing herself because she wants something associated with aeronautics for her resume. |
Three decades spent cultivating a good guy image then He cheated on his wife and announced it on instagram. |

I suggest everyone in that area write Seema Dixit and the three at-large members. https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/leadership/school-board/school-board-members
It makes no sense that picked names with no community support and it is incredibly dumb to name a school after a person. We know better nowadays. Finally, the course pathway hasn’t been selected yet (allegedly) so the aviation names make no sense. |

Somehow, Reid thinks that the airport and museum signify the identity of the neighborhood.
While, certainly, they are close by, this is a suburban area full of trees and kids. We have lots of single family homes, townhouses, condos and apartments where people actually live, work, shop, and play. We don't consider ourselves an "aviation community." We consider this community and area to be our home where we enjoy our families and neighbors. Many of us are so excited to finally have a high school in our area--but the uncertainty and waffling by Reid has had disappointing results. To put off setting the boundaries until June, and encouraging kids to opt in when they don't even know if they will be in-boundary, is disturbing. I don't know who came up with this plan, but it makes NO SENSE! Please give the school a community name. The top names suggested at the open houses should be the starting point--not personal views from outside the community. Most of those suggestions reflected the geographic area. |
Seema Dixit cares only about Centreville. She does not care about Oak Hill families one bit. |
If she only cares about Centreville, she's been quite the failure...CVHS renovation delayed, no progress on moving Willow Springs to CVHS, and each public scenario for the new HS pulls out CVHS families to backfill Westfield. |

Unique facility, once in a lifetime opportunity, instead of taking advantage of that let's spend money to try and convert it into a traditional high school |
