What names are you submitting for the new Western High School?

Unique facility, once in a lifetime opportunity, instead of taking advantage of that let's spend money to try and convert it into a traditional high school

I would just LOOOOOVE to hear your proposal for "taking advantage" of the "once in a lifetime opportunity" that would not require additional spending!!

Yes, please share!

There's no way you can open this high school without spending a lot of money -- even a STEM focused school would still need to update preschool and kindergarten classrooms, make a school library, bigger cafeterias, and have sports fields. Not a sound argument!

The school will be providing education for its students--do you not realize that there is a lot of spending going on in the overcrowded schools to make the facility work? Shorter commutes will free up some dollars, as well. Fewer bus drivers needed and fewer buses.

I'm not sure why you're arguing with me?

We are supposed to be loving and creative here after FCPS conveniently dropped this bombshell on us after class of 2025 graduated.

Therefore, I agree with you that we should not be argumentative.

But yes, some facility work will be necessary to FCPS-ify it.

The person arguing with you is clearly a Langley parent deeply impacted by White Privilege and Affluenza.

I'm reversing my opt in if they use some of these names. Yeah, I get it, they are obscure astronauts - why would you give a new school a name that is going to look so weird on college applications. I agree Oak Hill should have been on the list but am thankful "Sully" didnt make the cut which means: damage the purity or integrity of; defile. And like 100 people voted for it. I'd prefer Innovation at this point from this list.

I think they didn't put Oak Hill on the list because so many people outside of the area mock it. They think we are demeaning Herndon, when, actually, we are just trying to define our community.

It is a good name. It is the name the community chose for their area--it was a vote.

It defines where the school is.

A lot of people voted for it.

I want a geographic name. I don't care for Western because Westfield is right next door.
It is next to Horsepen Run.

Why did they not consider "Oak Hill?"

Some said it was too close to "Oakton" but, "Western" is not close to Westfield?

Sure beats naming it after a person, though.

Maybe it is all those people mocking Oak Hill as a name for 20171, even though that is what it is.

Second place was "Skyview."

I can't believe we went through all of this to land at Western High School.

Grumble, grumble is back.

I love living rent-free in your head, but you aren’t responding to a post that I wrote.

Gotta love social justice warriors baselessly labeling a majority minority school with white privilege.

You’re the reason that the other political party is so successful.
