The only names I think are even reasonable are Western, Oak Hill, and possibly Sully.

If only they'd go with Sully after Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who heroically landed the plane in the Hudson. Aviation themed, not named after someone who died in a tragic accident, and it's actually just a local geographic name

It’s not the miracle on the Potomac, but the miracle on the Hudson. Plus, I think Chesley Sullenberger is actually from Charlotte North Carolina, or Mecklenburg County.

They could name it John Foster Dulles High School, Eero Saarinen High School, or Steven Ferenc Udvar-Hazy high school.

All aviation related in some way, one designed the airport, one had the airport named after him, and one had an air and space museum named after him.

There are random names that were proposed that should not have been proposed.

Personally Dulles HS is my two favourite.

Let's drop the aviation connection. This is going to be a community high school. it should reflect the community--not the opinions of people who think the only thing in the area is the airport.

And, do not name it after anyone. We don't need name changes in the future.

Oak Hill is best--all the kids considered in boundary live in Oak Hill, or at least the vast majority of them.

Although, i still think Sally Ride Mustangs might be good. I still envision a future battle of the marching bands at a football game: "Ride, Sally, Ride" vs "Chantilly Lace."

That region of western Fairfax has long been called the Sully District for some county and government purposes after Sully Plantation, which is still a nearby historic site.

This was mostly a joke about cramming in aviation and a local connection into one name.

There's no way you can open this high school without spending a lot of money -- even a STEM focused school would still need to update preschool and kindergarten classrooms, make a school library, bigger cafeterias, and have sports fields. Not a sound argument!

The school will be providing education for its students--do you not realize that there is a lot of spending going on in the overcrowded schools to make the facility work? Shorter commutes will free up some dollars, as well. Fewer bus drivers needed and fewer buses.
