Marge a fresh start is needed. But why not from a successful school?? ACHS?! |

You forgot another cabinet member from Alexandria. Julie Crawford was on the Superintendent’s Leadership Team for equity in ACPS. |
Are all roles in schools now titled Equity? Duran was Chief Equity Officer at FCPS? Is there no directors of curriculum, instruction, academic standards?? |
Generally only one academic officer https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/leadership Schools serve a lot of functions, not just academics. |
High schools are just about equity now, having high performing students means you gave them advantages that the other students did not have. |
Of course there are roles in school systems other than equity. Is this a serious question or just trying to stir the pot? |
Do you know any of the high performers at W-L? There are so so many. It is so impressive and diverse. I'm not sure what school you are talking about. |
That seems to be the only outside hires that APS can pull off. |
APS has a lot of equity positions. There are full time release DEI Coordinators at every middle and high school. Some elementary schools have Equity Influencers. There are multiple equity specialists at Syphax. Then, of course, you have directors, executive directors, and a chief of equity. |
Meh--he was hired into the executive principal position because the superintendent knew she could bully him. The other candidate was far more qualified. The last two years have been ridiculous--my kid never set eyes on him until graduation, but knew Mr. Balas well enough to greet him on the street. Arlington are welcome to him as far as I'm concerned, but goodness knows what's next at ACHS. |
So yes. We are swimming in equity officers. What exactly do they do? |
Some school systems more (and some less) than others. |
Every APS elementary has an “equity influencer”! - APS employee |
So like looking over your shoulder and “correcting” inequity in your classroom? |
