Really? 5 girls took 5 offers 2 weeks before tryouts even start? I call bs

I probably wouldn’t move to a team that has 5 available slots. Red flag.

A number of girls moving to GA. Others starting to look.

Wrong. Here are the current GFR girls teams standings in each RL age group:

2012: 2nd/12
2011: 4th/12
2010: 3rd/12
2009: 1st/12
2008: 10th/11
2007/06: 2nd/12

I'll give you, the 08 team is not a good team but as you can see, all of the other teams are absolutely "top 4".

And, yes, the coach of the 08 team is now on the GFR board.

Not only is he part of the board. He is the leader of these shenanigans.

Maybe they signed an executive order and handed out the pens afterwards.

And he is not an experienced soccer Guy. He’s been on the board for only a few months and coaches two shitty teams that his kids are on. He wasn’t hired as a coach, he was a volunteer coaching rec, and then thought his kids teams could compete in travel, but was obviously wrong.

GA tryouts have been happening since March. Very likely they did offers. Unlikely they are all from the same club/team.

Yep, McLean still has spots on some of their teams for GA and a lot for GA Aspire teams

GFR’s tryouts have always been last and usually in May. Other clubs, who are organized, are starting earlier each year, as GA and ECNL tryouts start in Feb/March. They’ve been able to attract decent players even with the late tryouts so they’ll probably be fine, even if they need to rebuild this year.

That had been true years ago, but the last few years tryouts have been early/mid April so not having dates yet feels late even by GFR standards. That being said, I think you are right, they have a history of being able to fill in the gaps even with later tryouts.

Source? I'm curious where people find their team rankings.

Not original poster but betting those are the standings listed on ECNL RL website.

We targeted GFR for our move from another club. Reading this makes me nervous.
My son is 2009, any word on how this stuff affects the older boys?

If RS is not reinstated as XD they will all most likely leave GFR, they are RS loyalists. Same with the 2008 and 2010 boys.
