Justin Theroux marries 30yo GF…

Justin has always come across as dehydrated.

Hope the wife knows what she signed up for.

The Vogue piece obviously was done to create buzz for any upcoming projects. Interesting choice for a guy who said he preferred his relationships to be kept quiet and contained with the four walls of whatever room they're in.

Also, he looks hella old.

It was easy for him to say that when everything was handed to him on a silver platter with Aniston. I said upthread he knows he needs to hustle now, and so does his bride. Of course he's a hypocrite, not surprising. He's represented by CAA. This has their fingerprints on it. Wonder if they'll sign Nicole, who currently has no-name representation. She does have the hotter career right now, with three prestige projects in a row: Gilded Age, We Were the Lucky Ones, and Paradise. She was quite good in the latter two, especially. She has talent, and a lot of exposure right now. The next few years will be critical for her career. Can she get a lead or will she be stuck in supporting? Definitely no baby while she rides the wave. She has time, if they even want kids.

I know DCUM simply doesn’t tolerate that people might not want kids, but I don’t think either of them want kids. I definitely think she wants to ride this wave of her career, and marrying a 53 year-old eternal bachelor does not scream I want to start having babies.

Maybe.

But then there’s George Clooney.

I think some actors reach a point where they realize they want kids and don’t want to be an old dad. Of course, they will still be an old dad…but their Peter Pan self thinks the young wife will keep them young forever ;0)

If Theroux and the 30 year old don’t announce a pregnancy in the next 18 months, then I’ll agree that he doesn’t want a kid.

But come on…why would he bother to marry anyone if he doesn’t want a kid at this point?

Yes, there is George Clooney, but I would not hold him up as a typical story, or even a man with typical options.

But I get your point, people can change their mind and mature and grow. But I think if you are maturing and growing, you don’t fall in love with a 27-year-old he was engaged to someone else from across the room LOL.

Also, George Clooney and amal technically do have a more reasonable age split between them, of 16 years. She was also 35 when they met, not 27. In other words, she pretty much had a life of her own and was certainly not looking for a man to shape her. I think they are much more like peers than Justin and Nicole, getting together when she was much younger, and having a more extreme age gap between them.

Missing the point.

The point is that a lot of actors like to play the field and have decades of fun before settling down. They only marry when they have found the mother of their future child. If you don’t want kids, why marry? Just continue to date and easily move on without having to involve lawyers.

I don’t see why Justin would marry unless he wanted kids. He might have been looking for a woman young enough to have at least two kids. Smart to test drive a 27 year old for a few years…leaving a handful of years to have a couple kids.

OK and I would say you’re missing my point. Yes I agree with you that some like to play the field and then decide that they’re settling down and want to get married. I don’t think Justin is making the best decisions here. This is a really large age gap and she was pretty young when they got together. She was also engaged. I just don’t think he’s making sound decisions and you are acting as if well, he finally grew up and decided he wanted kids.

Maybe that’s what he thinks, but we’ll see how the next few years unfold. He may think he’s ready to grow old with someone but he might not like it when she becomes a mommy and starts using Botox in mid 30s. And she might not be prepared to go through the ins and outs of a man in the 60s. I know men on DCUM like to act as if because they don’t go through menopause they don’t go through any changes, but we all know the blood circulation starts really changing at 40 in that region, things are going to change for Justin in the next decade and Viagra doesn’t solve every problem.

I’m not a fan of Justin, and I’m sure he makes stupid decisions.

I was largely responding to a poster who thinks he doesn’t want kids. And my thinking is why would a celeb like him bother to get married unless he wants kids? Why take on the risk of having a future divorce when you can just date around and move on? I think men like him marry only when they want a kid (or want to social climb…).

He picked someone who is young enough to have kids. I’m not saying it’s without risk or weird. But celebs like him are weird.

I… don’t get this pairing. The vogue piece seemed random based on neither being that famous. I couldn’t pick just Thoreau out of a line up but I do know he was married to Jen Aniston. I’d never heard of her before.

Vouge does wedding spreads for random celebs and influencers all the time. It's not like this made front cover anywhere so it's not that big of a deal

Well, you were being very rational, maybe too rational for Justin Theroux lol.

I feel like celebrities, especially men, view marriage differently than normal people. I am always shocked at how many high profile male rockstars and actors get married really young and get divorced. Like why did Johnny Depp get married at age 19? There’s no reason for that and he clearly didn’t want kids so many years later. And well after he was super famous and could have his pick of anyone, he got engaged to Winona Ryder and got a tattoo of her name. And that didn’t last. Dave Grohl also had a young starter marriage after he was famous - that ended because he cheated. Big shock. A 27 year-old rockstar can’t stay faithful? Tons of celebrities are like that.

I think marriage is very appealing to them maybe because of the performance of it all. I don’t know but it seems like they get married and divorced more than the average person so I am not putting too much stock in this time but we will see.

If Nicole truly does want kids, I hope she’s going into this with her eyes wide open, because I really do think she’s picking a risky partner given his history.

Her being engaged wouldn’t bother him. He was with Heidi 14 years with the last seven living together and he went after Jen (or she went after him). I don’t think too many celebs have high morals. I was surprised Jen would even be interested in him knowing he was in a long term relationship. She pretty much became Jolie on the set of Wanderlust. And it was right after her hook up with Theroux when asked about Jolie and Pitt she said “nobody did anything wrong”. I guarantee she didn’t feel that way until she herself did it. You can always rationalize your wrongs if you want something bad enough.

Yeah it sort of reminded me of Will Kopelman and his new bride, Allie? They had a huge spread as well and he looked like her father.
