LMAO she is so sketchy

https://www.williams-sonoma.com/registry/5tkfnkjhmh/registry-list.html

I'm guessing her engagement didn't last very long, since so few items were purchased. Wonder if she got to keep the $900 espresso machine!

Anyway, she wouldn't have needed much to move into Theroux's fancy duplex that Jen Aniston paid to renovate soup to nuts.

My suspicion is that this website was registered under the fiancé's email address and he never removed it from the public website. 10 bucks says she's sent him a few terse emails over the years asking him to remove it.

She totally dumped her fiancé for Justin Theroux.

I think Theroux is bright and can be very charming when he wants to be, but there's also so much shady stuff out there about him. She must have been enthusiastic about his relative wealth and fame. But I still don't get it. He's practically geriatric compared to her and her ex-fiance, who is so much more handsome and seemingly normal.

She wants the lifestyle. She can easily secure her wealth and fame now, pop out a few kids, and then divorce and move on very easily. Sort of like Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner.

I think she takes wealth as a given. Her stepfather is definitely wealthy, evidence of affluent lifestyle clear in mom's insta. She was never going to marry a poor man. But I think her main interest is fame and a successful acting career. She's had smaller roles in prestige projects, but Paradise plus the Theroux relationship ups her visibility in a desirable way. The funny thing is this never would have been possible had Jennifer Aniston not taken a liking to Theroux. His PR and red carpet photos had no value until then. He's still more interesting because he's Jennifer's ex not in his own right (despite his outstanding work in the Leftovers). And no one would be interested in her if it weren't for Theroux. They're all playing the fame game.

I'm not surprised she moved on from the ex-fiancé in finance to Theroux, based on her recent career success. The ex might be wealthy and connected, but he has an actual job in NYC that probably involves long hours and a decent amount of travel and stress. If you were an actress just starting to get real traction for jobs, would you want to be tied to that? It would cause friction almost immediately. Especially if he wanted kids and family. She's at a phase in her career where she needs to be mobile and flexible so she can take the best opportunities available. If she gets a job on a movie with the right director and it's filming in Romania for 3 months, she should go. If she landed a White Lotus role that required her to move to Thailand for 6 months (as the cast of the current season did), then she should take it. And even smaller demands -- she'll need to be bicoastal in a real way to take advantage of opportunities in NY and LA. What kind of impact would that have on a new marriage between two people in their early-30s, one of whom has a pretty traditional job in an office? It would never have worked.

So while she seems obnoxious and the age difference with Theroux is gross, I get it. I'm sure the fact that Theroux is also an actor was very appealing to her. Yes, I have no doubt the industry connections were appealing, but I also bet she just liked being with someone who does what she does, understands the demands of the industry, has been through what she is currently going through with his own career. And their lifestyle is so much more flexible than anything she could have had with the ex. Theroux is a lot less likely to be bothered by her taking jobs all over the world or having to travel last minute for things. They can both view the PR and red carpet part of the job professionally and comfortably, as they are both performers (whereas her ex would have had to view it all as an outsider and I think that can be extremely alienating for civilians). Here's this spread in Vogue that whores out their wedding, and serves as major PR for both of them (these photos essentially serve as headshots for potential jobs, show how attractive they are and how they look in certain clothes, it's a stealthy way to get directors and casting directors to think about them and look at them in a certain light) -- the NYT Vows piece that would have accompanied her wedding to finance guy would not have been as professionally useful to her.

So yeah, it's a little icky, but I guess it bothers me less than when normies go into marriages like this. Actors are a different species, they have different relationship needs, especially in skyrocketing careers. This honestly might be the best possible person for either of them to marry right now. They have way more in common with each other than either would have with anyone outside Hollywood.

Let’s get real. Neither of them have “skyrocketing” careers. I’ve never even heard of her until this wedding.

I think PP makes a lot of good points. He got a lot of exposure from Aniston, which helped his career. He works steadily as a character actor, even if he isn't the leading man type. The Leftovers showed he could be, but for whatever reason he's not on that track and is aging out anyway. Her career is on the verge of taking off. The Paradise role, though supporting, is a meaty one that shows she's not just a cute face. If she gets lucky and chooses well, she could be on track to have a successful career. They're both career- and NY-focused, so do have a lot in common. He never had to whore himself out with Aniston, all handed to him on a silver platter, but he's okay with doing it now to help his and Nicole's careers now since they're not in the same league. Even with a good amount in common, don't think they'll last. They will each prioritize career, and one or both will inevitably cheat at some point. Probably him, but wouldn't shock me if she tries to trade up at some point.

I don’t know about her. Maybe she will take off.

It’s a little hard to believe he will. He had a very small role on the Mindy making Kate Hudson quirky comedy running point. I think he is trying to get some steady work but if he was being considered for big meaty roles I don’t see him signing on to this.

He’s had a respectable career but i don’t see him on the verge of breaking big at this point.

DP. He had a huge, critically acclaimed role in The Leftovers.

Guess he’s not close to his father, and Louis didn’t make it either. I think I saw a glimpse of Naomi Watts. Billy Crudup is a good friend of his.

"Victoria and David Beckham are his friends and she offered to help design my dress" the whole thing was nauseating.

Obviously the celebrity friends are all his, and she swiftly (ha ha) considered them hers too. But either she’s a complete phony or she grew up with money. No 30 year old working actress without any blockbuster parts talks the way she does in this obnoxious piece without having been to the manor born. Mother or paternal grandparents must have real money. Which is definitely something Theroux would like. I wonder if he didn’t invite his father or his father refused to come. I remember Jen A mentioning his mom but not his dad.

It was definitely an obnoxious and pretentious piece in Vogue. I hate the brand and name dropping. One dress was a custom color

Maybe she's not so smug in person. There were 97! pictures in the article. I got bored and couldn't finish looking at them.

I honestly don't get it. How do two lesser-known actors merit this kind of spread?

One was married to Jennifer Aniston and he other has a supposed hit on Hulu. And great PR agencies.

It kind of seems like her PR agent has been all over this thread...

So every time a younger woman marries an older man, she automatically has “daddy issues”? So tiring.

But probably true - they may not even realize it at the time.

“Every time?” Come on. Let’s not act like this is the norm. While more common in celeb circles, you can easily look up the data. 1% of heterosexual couples have a 20 year or more age gap between them. This is absolutely not the norm and there are plenty of reasons for that. Even looking at 15 to 19 years, you’ll only find 1.6% of couples. Most people couple up within shoving distance of their own age.

Justins friends at this wedding…. David and Victoria Beckham practically have children Nicole’s age. Jimmy Kimmel‘s first two kids are well older than Nicole. His wife is a little younger than him, late 40s, and is in the thick of raising tweens. Beth Stern is Justin‘s age and famously goes to bed with Howard every night around 7 so they can watch TV and fall asleep. He still has to get up really early to shoot his live show.

I’m sure Nicole will have a blast with them and this will work out just fine!

Right, the leftovers did average in the ratings and only ran for three seasons. I get that it has a cult following among people who love it, but most people don’t know what the show is and couldn’t care less. And yes, considering it’s 10 years old at this point, I don’t think we’re all waiting for Justin‘s career to take off.

The Vogue spread was really weird, it sounds like somebody owed somebody’s PR person a favor. Neither one of these people warrant this kind of attention. It probably helped that his relationship with Jen gave him some celebrity friends to feature.

The Vogue piece obviously was done to create buzz for any upcoming projects. Interesting choice for a guy who said he preferred his relationships to be kept quiet and contained with the four walls of whatever room they're in.

Also, he looks hella old.

It was easy for him to say that when everything was handed to him on a silver platter with Aniston. I said upthread he knows he needs to hustle now, and so does his bride. Of course he's a hypocrite, not surprising. He's represented by CAA. This has their fingerprints on it. Wonder if they'll sign Nicole, who currently has no-name representation. She does have the hotter career right now, with three prestige projects in a row: Gilded Age, We Were the Lucky Ones, and Paradise. She was quite good in the latter two, especially. She has talent, and a lot of exposure right now. The next few years will be critical for her career. Can she get a lead or will she be stuck in supporting? Definitely no baby while she rides the wave. She has time, if they even want kids.

I know DCUM simply doesn’t tolerate that people might not want kids, but I don’t think either of them want kids. I definitely think she wants to ride this wave of her career, and marrying a 53 year-old eternal bachelor does not scream I want to start having babies.

Maybe.

But then there’s George Clooney.

I think some actors reach a point where they realize they want kids and don’t want to be an old dad. Of course, they will still be an old dad…but their Peter Pan self thinks the young wife will keep them young forever ;0)

If Theroux and the 30 year old don’t announce a pregnancy in the next 18 months, then I’ll agree that he doesn’t want a kid.

But come on…why would he bother to marry anyone if he doesn’t want a kid at this point?

The Vogue piece obviously was done to create buzz for any upcoming projects. Interesting choice for a guy who said he preferred his relationships to be kept quiet and contained with the four walls of whatever room they're in.

Also, he looks hella old.

I'm in my 50s, married without kids (by choice). AMA.

He's in love plus it's good PR. He was developing a rep as a skank who only dated very young girls after Jen A. Much younger than Nicole.

Yes, there is George Clooney, but I would not hold him up as a typical story, or even a man with typical options.

But I get your point, people can change their mind and mature and grow. But I think if you are maturing and growing, you don’t fall in love with a 27-year-old he was engaged to someone else from across the room LOL.

Also, George Clooney and amal technically do have a more reasonable age split between them, of 16 years. She was also 35 when they met, not 27. In other words, she pretty much had a life of her own and was certainly not looking for a man to shape her. I think they are much more like peers than Justin and Nicole, getting together when she was much younger, and having a more extreme age gap between them.
