Fauci didn’t make those decisions. He’s a public health expert, not a policy maker.

Fauci openly admitted in a testimony that he came up with the six feet apart policy because it seemed like a good idea, not because it was scientifically grounded.

The policy makers and people on state levels and in other agencies did everything Fauci suggested, so to imply he didn't make the decisions is incredibly distorting and misleading. They were glued to his words. I remember exactly what happened during COVID. As do millions of Americans. Which is why Fauci is very unpopular with large swathes of the country. His pardoning for all activities dating to 2014 (the year the Obama administration banned gain of function research) is telling and I'm sure it's not the last we've heard of him given that he is no longer protected by the 5th and can still be prosecuted for perjury in future testimonies.

Trump pointed out that Fauci is a private citizen and former government employees do not keep security details for life. If Fauci is worried about his safety, he can hire his own security detail. And as Trump also pointed out, Fauci has made himself a wealthy man because of the epidemic thanks to his publications. He can afford it.

I think Fauci did the best he could with the information he had.

With that said, the pandemic absolutely did make him exceedingly wealthy. If you don’t believe that, inquire about hiring him for a speaking engagement and see what he charges.

Hard to tell because I only see extremely RW media when I searched it. But those sources say *up to* $50,000-$100,000, which is extremely vague. And I did not see any specifics. Compared to other people of his stature, it is not outlandish. Trump has speaking fees in the millions. Such as $2.5M to call a fight.

But for some reason, when Trump makes money it is admirable and good business. When anyone does, it is greed.

No way Fauci is speaking anywhere for less than 300k. But anyhow, the point is, while he was at risk while in his position, he received security so he could continue to do his job, made millions off the pandemic (which is fine, not faulting him, just the reality). He hasn’t been working in government in years and there is no real reason for the tax payers to be funding his security. There is nothing petty about not funding lifetime secret service to him. His job is done, he can pay for any security he feels he needs now

Well I guess Trump’s children don’t need protection then. They are private citizens with mo government job.

Fauci is actually better off with his own security though. I would not trust Trump’s SS to protect him.

If he were actually fully retired living in obscurity and still getting credible threats maybe I could see that he needed security, but he continues to put himself into the spotlight. FBI investigates threats against public officials all the time, hundreds of cases a year. And sometimes they make arrests. But just because it wasn't headline news doesn't mean it didn't happen. For example, in 2024 they prosecuted 78 people for making threats against public officials, yet unless it was someone with a van full of explosives or someone caught with a sniper rifle a few dozen yards from his target, then no, most of them DO NOT end up "major news." If everything the FBI prosecuted were "major news" then the daily news would be completely dominated by FBI news.
