My childless teacher saved my life. My parents neglected me and she took me shopping at the mall for stickers and then lunch at Carl’s, Jr. She’d let me do special projects around the classroom, and told me if she had a daughter then she’d want one like me.

Wtf? Why is he so obsessed with judging people based on their ability to breed. You can be a teacher without being a parent because your job is to teach/lead not parent. You do however have to have empathy and be a human to teach. Not sure JD Vance would make the cut.

Also, didn't Vance recently convert to Catholicism (from atheism)? Aren't there childless teachers in catholic schools pretty regularly (nuns, priests, etc.) who don't have kids?

You have to understand that all of this is part of a larger right wing effort to shape society to a white, male, Christian dominated society. Destruction of public education is on the list, and single women and childless women are part and parcel of it as well. This is all about control.

The far left is already destroying education. Look at what's happened in the past decade. Public schools across the country are in freefall due to insane far left policies and curricula. We need a return to rational, moderate liberalism to right the ship.

The goal of destroying the public education system is to drive more and more people to religious education. When public education becomes a terrible option, people will have to choose between private and parochial education and most will not be able to afford private, so it will drive more and more to parochial schools. With the goal of making out nation more and more of a Christian theocracy rather than a representative Republic. Republicans are much better at playing the long game. Democrats tend to focus on the here and now. Republicans tend to focus on directing the future towards their goals.

You’re ridiculous. I have three kids who between them have had about 125 public school teachers none with blue hair and none who tried to indoctrinate them. As one teacher said “I don’t teach them what to think, I teach them to think.” One of their teachers got tarred for being part of the “far left”—she was a lovely math teacher who told the kids it was okay to make mistakes because that’s how they learn. I didn’t care what her personal political views that she expressed on FB were—she made my kid like math again and was a kind and supportive person. Fox News just searched teacher FB pages to find a leftist they could dox, even though she had never once expressed any of those views to her students. It’s all a manufactured crisis by the right to attack public education, which is such a weird weird thing to attack but I guess some people like DeVos want to make money off people’s fears about public education.
