I don't believe that ballots are an issue. The Democrats don't have an official candidate yet so what would be on the ballots at this point?

Heritage Foundation has identified potential issues
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/heritage-working-election-legal-challenges-case-biden-pulled-from-dnc-nomination
Heritage points out that many states — including swing states such as Georgia, Nevada and Wisconsin — might not allow a replacement on the ballot.

Wisconsin does not allow a candidate's name to be withdrawn from the ballot except due to death. Nevada allows changes to its ballot up until 5:00pm on the fourth Friday of June in the election year — it also allows special consideration for if nominees die or are determined to be mentally unable to proceed.

Georgia would allow Biden to withdraw up to 60 days before the election. If Biden withdraws afterward, his name would remain on the ballot but votes for him would be discarded.

Which is why the right and the media created this mess. If even one of these states follows through on not allowing the dem candidate, Trump will win.

lol the right created Biden’s debacle of a debate?

No, the right fed fuel to the media to make this an issue. Everything Biden did since then, including later after the debate that night, was fine.

Do you really think she can win?

Yes, and fairly easily.

Jeff, normally I agree with your take and find you very reasonable. But this response baffles me. Why do you think Kamala can easily win? She did poorly in the primary and dropped out early. The unfair misogyny that plagued Hilary hasn’t disappeared. Polls show her faring not much better than Biden. To be fair, they don’t show any Democrat with much of an edge, but lack of name recognition is a factor for the less known Dems. Everyone knows who Kamala is.

My theory is that Biden actually has a great legislative record. My single complaint is his handling of the Israel-Gaza war. The economy is in pretty good shape with high employment, the stock market hitting record highs, and inflation under control. If Biden were 20 years younger, this election wouldn't even be close. But, Biden is not 20 years younger. However, Kamala Harris is. She can take credit for many of Biden's achievements because she was part of the team and she can promise to keep the same course. She will be a very credible messenger on women's health issues and I think she will inspire young people.

I don't believe Hillary Clinton lost because of misogyny, She lost because she ran a poor campaign and because of James Comey's attempting to act politically and screwing it up royally.

In short, Harris just has to campaign on a message to continue the path that has dug the U.S. out of the hole Trump put us in, the path that has made our economy the envy of the world, and promise to protect reproductive rights. And then show energy. She will out hustle Trump and can campaign everywhere. Her historic candidacy will be inspiring and create a lot of excitement.

You think her hypothetical VP pick matters (I think it does)? If yes, who’s your prediction?

I expect that the VP choice will be a White male former or current governor. I don't think it matters which one.

Who’s a former governor who could be on the radar? Obviously NC and Kentucky’s current govs are on the radar.

If Kamala Harris is simply declared the presidential nominee by the party elite, the real talented governors - i.e, Beshear, Whitmer, Shapiro, Moore - are not taking the VP slot. Sinking ship and all. They will choose to live and fight in '28.

The Bidens and their allies destroyed the party. The new generation will have to rebuild it.

If the dems don't win this fall, there will not be a credible election in 2028.

Wouldn’t be surprised if covid is just an excuse to pull out of his commitments and work towards planning the open convention.

I agree with PP that Biden and their allies have destroyed their party.

Watching the Trump speech, my god, he is old, he is lying and he has no command of facts. I mean I get it, Joe is old, but this is off the charts bad.

Kamala would eat this up if they were to debate.

What color is the sky in your world? He could not remember the defense secretary’s name, refuses to take cognitive tests, yelled at a democratic congressman who won the bronze star, keeps repeating lies like inflation was at 9% when he came into office, can barely walk or talk, admits he is not sharp after 4pm or before 10am, and cannot elucidate a platform on which he is running except attacking Trump personally. And that is all after the debate.

I don’t believe anyone spewing the crap that Biden was pushed aside for Hillary. He didn’t want to run because Beau had just died.

Nooooo. Obama famously told him to step aside and Joe listened. It was terrible advice. Obama was high on his own supply of hubris.

Wasn’t just Obama, it was all these same Ivy Leaguers, with the Clintons also both being in the Ivy club. That has always bothered Joe behind closed doors. He’s never felt accepted. Shit, even Trump and Vance are Ivy Leaguers. You think this is all a coincidence? It’s a cartel.

Schiff and Schumer also both Ivy Leaguers. Same for all these TV talking heads and columnists leading the charge.

It’s not a Cartel. Most Ivy grads have much higher than average IQs. They are substantially over represented because average ability levels.

The next Democrat president will be AOC . I’ve said it here plenty of times and it gets scoffed as trolling but she’s the baby version of Bernie Sanders . She’s already started to polish things up by hosting some sort of anti semitism public forum. She’s being groomed for 2028

She's already being canceled by the far left and the mainstream left won't support her.

They will support her because they have no choice. I’ve got my eye on her. They’re tying to clean her up like they did with Warren to make her less commie. She will run because Dems desperately want to seal Latinos as a voting bloc and she is actually a millennial and not an elderly person. She wins the woke points but they’re trying to make her less scary to the donors and 1%

If Democrats genuinely believed that, they wouldn't have nominated an 81 year old geriatric with a 36 percent approval rating, would they? People have been telling pollsters for years they don't want Biden to run again bc he's clearly too old and unwell. If Democrats were genuinely concerned about the future of democracy, they'd put up an electable candidate, right? Yet they did not.

Latinos will never vote for AOC en masse.
