No.

Buttigieg
Pro: great speaker and debater. Intelligent, practical, knowledgeable on domestic policies.
Con: white male with no particular support from Black and Hispanic communities.

Whitmer
Pro: woman, experience leading a State
Con: white woman, same as above

I can see a Kamala Harris / Gretchen Whitmer ticket.

The Gavin is too Californian, bless him.

You do realize that Biden is a white man, right?

Obama wants another term. By re-electing Biden.

I am pretty sure it is Jill pulling the puppet strings, not Obama. She is committed elder abuse at the highest degree by not allowing him to drop out. How do you not see this?

Biden just made it that much more difficult for him to win reelection. Last night was abysmal.

Trump was bad on delivery and substance, as he always is. But this is the first time the public saw how doddering Biden is. Previously it was small stumbles and mix-ups. This was a prolonged state of confusion.

We really another Democratic candidate.

Put pressure on the White House. It will reinvigorate the campaign and motivate people to turn out.

Because right now, plenty of dejected Democrats and Independents are going to stay home on Election Day.

Your last line is BS regardless. No way people all the Dems and Independents who know what a complete train wreck Trump would be would just not vote. No F in way.

Some may, but most are in the ‘never trump again’ mindset and will go to vote for whoever’s name is on the ballot with a D beside it. They could’ve rolled a sleeping Biden onto the stage and then rolled him off after 90 minutes and I’d still vote for him over trump. But I’m not going to say everyone would do the same. Biden will lose votes over this.

Why can’t you understand that? The same way people denied he was deteriorating, they are denying his solid determination to stay in the race.

I agree with this, with one caveat: If national polls show a consistent double-digit lead for Trump post-debate, the calls for Biden to step down prior to the convention will become deafening. If Biden agreed to this, he would endorse Kamala Harris and the party would rally behind her because what choice would they have? She’s the sitting Vice-President and bypassing her for a white male or white female would obliterate the Democratic coalition. It would be a complete sh*tshow.

If Harris became the nominee at the convention, she would likely choose a well-known, probably white male VP. Well-known because there wouldn’t be time for a proper vetting. Maybe someone like Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut.

And it would be a Reagan-like landslide for Trump if Democrats went with Kamala Harris. And they'd lose the Senate and the House would remain Republican.

So, you know, there's also that to consider.

Trump is the GOP nominee. Trump isn't capable of a landslide victory. He has a good chance of beating Biden but he'd have zero chance against any viable Dem candidate. This isn't rocket science.

Says…you? Because we have poll data that shows hypothetical matchups between Trump and other Democrats besides Biden. And they invariably show them losing. For example, Whitmer is 14 points behind Trump. Where are you getting your news? The oh so trustworthy NYT?

Now 25 year old me, have to pick Biden, not excited about it need to stop Trump. I just want my future kids and grandkids to have more rights than I did not less.

Thank you for being pragmatic here. That is the important thing - that we stop Trump.

We can hopefully move beyond this whole miserable period in our country's history once we stop Trump.

Sure, because outside the DB bubble people don’t know the governors of midwestern states. Polls like that are simply meaningless right now.
Several weeks of huuuuuge news where she takes over as the candidate and people will know her.

You do realize he's unfit for the Presidency? He's a nice Grandpa, and he deserves a nice retirement after decades of faithful and dedicated public service.

We all want to stop Trump (including a lot of Republicans). We need to replace Biden on the ticket in order to do that.

Polls are showing an uptick in disapproval of Biden since the debate. And a slight advantage to Trump in Presidential election polls.

At the same period during the last Presidential campaign, Biden was statistically ahead of Trump.

Biden has to see the light and step aside.

As mayor. Can you really see middle America being okay with two men greeting heads of state at state dinners? I'm sure they are a lovely couple but that isn't going to happen.

We should wait until we see polling done after this weekend’s Sunday shows for the full effect. I assume they are going to be BRUTAL.

He was elected mayor in 2012. He came out in 2015, 5 months before his re-election. Probably half the city didn't know it yet during re-election. And south bend is a city, haven't you heard of the urban archipelago model of American politics.

I actually don't think him being mayor is a problem. I think him coming across as sort of stiff and McKinsey-like is the problem.

Also him taking a lot of time off during the airplane crisis a few years ago. I don't think that looked great. (Yes I support family leave! I think him taking that much time during that bad a period - and sort of doing it covertly - didn't look great.) His husband seems like a great, warm person.

He's really effective as a surrogate going on Fox. I don't think he could win a national election. I wish he could do the debates, that said - he'd tear Trump apart.
