In addition to this book, Sidwell was mentioned in that new ESPN documentary series featuring Kiki Rice, Caitlyn Clark, and Kamila Cardoso. They dedicated several minutes to Kiki’s time at Sidwell, including current footage of her practicing in the gym with her dad. They didn’t even mention the name of the other two player’s high schools.

Does this help your life in any meaningful way? I swear, parents get so much juice from feeling like they're part of something somewhat famous. it's so weird.

I'm am so confused by your comment. My daughter competed against Kiki in Upper school. Kiki was and is an amazing athlete. What is "so weird" about watching a young woman that was so talented in many sports and seeing her excel? My freshman daughter had to cover her in multiple sports. Kiki was a rare talent and I enjoyed watching her excel at her game!

The "weird" part was the poster going out of their way to mention that Kiki's school was featured, but the other featured athletes' schools were not. Obviously it's awesome to celebrate a talented athlete. Not the point. It was "weird" that the poster got this buzz from Sidwell being featured without the other schools being featured. It was ick.

🙄

Some of you are inordinately judgmental about other people’s enjoyment. You sound miserable…and weird.

No, the issue is that YOU think Sidwell parents think they’re better than non-Sidwell parents. That’s your problem.
I can’t give you self-esteem.

PSA: You’re reading a thread with Sidwell’s name in the title. If the parents at this school are so triggering for you, you should skip all Sidwell threads. It’s clearly affecting your mental and emotional health.

I tried reading it, by page 10 the writing was so bad I couldn’t continue.

No one actually thinks this.

And PP wasn't thinking.

A lot of my friends read it and really liked it. I was suspicious at first but it was actually pretty good. Apparently it’s been selling well- I asked out of curiosity at P&P when I went in

I read it. I found many typos in the book and found it to be predictable and boring. And I have been in the DC independent schools for a loooooong time.

I felt it was a necessary read but didn’t change any viewpoints on anything

The author lost my respect, when in 2 paragraphs, the storyline was: Grad student chooses a married man to date, is stupid enough to get knocked-up, while visibly pregnant is asked out by Mr Wonderful guy that has no problem with it, "I love kids."

2 paragraphs. 2 paragraphs and I no longer give a sh*t about this idiot character.

And she's a terrible Mother, a complete doormat. I can't care. I can't care what happens to these people.

Alum from era author attended (she is class of 1991 I believe), also a parent, was hoping the book would be entertaining but it’s really more just bad caricatures and cheap shots, expressed through choppy writing and disjointed dialogue. Too bad, there is a lot to satirize at Sidwell

Also, she is not that knowledgeable about the current school, if she were she would not have missed the real college counseling scandal from a few years ago, something far more interesting that parents accosting counselors in the garage

It’s not clear that the people criticizing her writing are Sidwell alums, but if they are that’s fine. Harvard and Penn alums should feel free to join in too, since she’s an alumna of those universities as well.

The basics are taught at Sidwell, yes?
