OK. Because PP can't do it well. |
If someone hits your car when? After it’s in the spot? I’ve been backing in for almost 35 years and haven’t had my engine damaged in a parking lot, so I’ll keep taking my chances. |
If you ever go to a sporting event, concert or some other event with tons of people, ALWAYS park so you can pull out.
If you have to back out when there's a mad rush to leave you're screwed. Only amateurs pull into spots in the parking lots during a sporting event. Backing in doesn't take long if you know how to actually drive. The problem is so many stupid suburban drivers don't know how to drive. On top of that they have asininely sized vehicles like SUVs. |
Exactly. Also, you ever had a dead battery? A lot easier to jump when it's facing out... |
This! Backing in is a win on all accounts. |
All smart people know this. ^ The dummies continue to post threads asking why people back in. |
-1. It is almost impossible to get my infant’s car seat in. I can’t open the back door wide enough to get the car seat in because the other car’s rear view mirror is in the way. I can’t leave the baby in the car seat on the ground while I pull out nor can I hold the baby in my arms while I pull out to then install the car seat. I once tried to climb through the trunk to install the car seat (while holding my baby, who was 3 months old at the time) but the ceiling was too low. This is an average infant car seat. |
It is easier to reverse into a large space like a row in a parking lot than to reverse into a small space like a single spot. That’s why it’s faster. I agree that backing in may be safer for most people simply because they’re average to poor drivers. It’s not difficult to reverse out of a space especially with back up cams that provide more visibility than pulling forward. |
I back in to spaces at home, because it’s hard to see when backing out. I back in when there are children or a lot or pedestrians present. It’s safer. |
Riiiiight... sometimes = maybe once, when you were 18. Am I correct, or are you in fact a sociopath? |
Emergency responders are required to back in.
Backing in is safer and more efficient when exiting. On another note cars have baxk up cameras nowadays because so many pedestrians were being injured from people backing out of parking spaces. |
I would apologize for derailing the thread, but I think people have firmly established that backing in or not is another topic (see also: shoes in the house, making your kid clean their plate, and pretty much anything to do with beach houses) where people have chosen their position and aren't going to budge Anyway Don't all cars have backup cameras now? Aren't they required? |
They are only required on new vehicles since 2018 and the typical car on the road is 12 years old. My car does not have a back up camera. |
If you can’t back in you suck at driving and should have your license revoked. Or your car is stupidly sized and you are incapable of driving it. |
