How does upholding the rule of law damage the United States?

It strengthens us and everything our nation stands for.

You are not “upholding the law”, dimwit. You are cheering on the destruction of a political enemy. You are terribly wrong if you think people are going to move on from this stuff. You are doing lasting damage to the confidence of a substantial portion of the population in the government and other institutions, all because you’re too brain dead to realize that the people on MSNBC telling you to be excited about this are themselves idiots.

If you break the law you face the consequences. He broke the law. And the feelings of a "substantial portion of the population" do not change that.

If he's not guilty, you have nothing to worry about. He'll be acquitted. Hell he might be acquitted even if he is guilty. This is Georgia.

No, moron. The prosecution alleges he broke the law. They have not proven that. If you had an IQ above room temperature, or any shred of intellectual honesty, you might get that.

You have expressed your beliefs about the intentions of anonymous posters on this forum. You say "You are cheering on the destruction of a political enemy". That is your opinion. We can hold opinions about the guilt of Donald Trump. We believe he is guilty. We have evidence of it.

In this case, the State of Georgia is upholding its laws. Not me.

Trump is not my political enemy. He is a foolish grifter who is twisting his election loss into an opportunity to raise money. He broke many laws (as well as centuries of convention) after losing in 2020.

I don’t watch MSNBC.

I actually think it’s a tragedy that Trump undertook the actions he did, but I have no doubt that holding him to account, without regard to the office he once held, is a moment of pride for the United States.

And don’t threaten “people not moving on”. You don’t bully democratic norms; you uphold them. Those are the values that our armed forces have defended, died, and been physically and mentally maimed for.

+1 And if more people had gone down after Watergate we might not be here now.

Ya… but clearly you haven't read the indictment or you have no legal background. Trump is screwed and they are betting on the co-conspirator's turn, which they will.

No one is bringing an indictment against the former president unless they know they can't prove it at trial…they aren't approaching this like the idiot Republicans are approaching Hunter Biden.

Anyone been able to figure out if Lindsey Graham (or any other members of Congress) is among the unindicted co-conspirators?

But but but he's innocent! Why do you need to pardon an innocent man?

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who is listed at the top of indictment, has been assigned to oversee the case against former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants.

His official biography on the Fulton County court website says, “Judge McAfee joined the bench of Superior Court of Fulton County in February of 2023. He received his JD from the University of Georgia School of Law and a BA from Emory University.”

And this is the first step in the process to prove that he broke the law. You can't prove someone broke a law without prosecuting them in a court of law. So bring it on.

Yes our lying eye did not see J6. This is the end. Bet he flees the country.

I live near the Capitol and saw lots. You know who I didn’t see there? Donald Trump.

I'm cheering on the fact that criminal actions have consequences no matter who perpetrates them. I'm cheering on the fact that NO ONE is above the law including presidents and the powerful. Why do you people think Donald Trump gets a pass at committing crimes? I thought you were the party of law and order. Obviously not.

This is my problem with you braindead fools. Once upon a time, I was with you, but back then, innocent until proven guilty, civil liberties and common sense were still part of being a Democratic. You’re all so idiotic now that it pains me to think I was ever a part of this stupid shit.

Okay. Let's all say he's innocent until proven guilty. So let's get the court case going so that prosecutors can make their case and convince the jury and judge of Trump's guilt. Apparently they have a TON of evidence. And witnesses.

Rapist Donald Trump is charged with 13 counts in the Fulton County indictment, including a racketeering charge for allegedly attempting to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in Georgia in 2020.

The list of 13 charges also includes additional counts for allegedly making false statements to and soliciting the Georgia house speaker and the Georgia secretary of state to violate their oaths of office in December 2020 and January 2021.

Rapist Trump is charged with six counts for conspiring with several others around his campaign for the use of fake electors in Georgia.

Another charge relates to Rapist Trump and lawyer John Eastman allegedly filing false documents in a federal court case in Georgia that asserted thousands of people had voted illegally, even though that was not true.
