Working Parents Who Aren’t Tired — Tell us your schedule or secret sauce

Some of us are on special diets for health reasons, and personally I think it’s just plain wrong to dismiss the ethical or environmental concerns of your spouse or your children!

I get that it is stressful, complicated , and time-consuming (as a mom who prepares two separate meals 1-3 times per day) but at the end of the day (IMO) none of this other stuff is more important than what you feed your family.

As someone who became vegetarian in high school, I can relate to this. But, my mom wasn't making entirely separate meals for me either. More like adapting from the main meal- e.g., for tacos, black beans instead of ground beef. I was also asked to help out a bit and find recipes and participate in the cooking to a limited extent. I still eat a lot of vegetarian meals and will pre-make veggie burgers, hummus, or marinate tofu/tempeh on the weekend just to have some options for the week.

Two other suggestions- hire a bi-weekly cleaner. So worth it. And give our kids more responsibility for cleaning.

For that matter, you say you never hire a sitter, but isn't your oldest old enough to watch their younger siblings?

I don't think it's possible for 2 full-time working parents to not be tired with 3 kids.

If you're paying for private school, at least pick one school where all 3 can attend.
