Yes, only one parent needs to go. Both is overkill.

Hm, what a weird school this must be. At our FCPS ES, both parents went to Back to School Night.

Grades 1-3 on one night, grades 4-6 the next. 5ere are parents with 3 kids in grades 1,3, and 5. How will they attend all their kids’ sessions in the same night? Poor planning.

You and everyone else is thinking this, hopefully also admin is re-thinking their plans.

Don’t understand why can’t school just do zoom session for BTSN or just load video on schoology for parents to watch.

I like a real visit to the school myself. But we can’t have the whole school come on one night. It’s going to be a sh*t show.

That's how most schools do it, I don't know why you're complaining. You WANT to pay for a sitter two nights in a row?

What are you talking about? We never get a sitter for BTSN. One of us stays home with the kids. Both parents so not need to be there. LOL.

Oh right your husband is far too important to care about the children's schooling. That's mommy's job. Excuse me for having a spouse that cares about our children's education equally.

What are you talking about? You sound unhinged. I said one of us stays home and I didn’t specify who.

It’s not weird, it’s called we aren’t spending money on a sitter so one of us stays home. NBD.

Pro tip again from current FCPS parent (since 2005) with 2 graduates:

YOU CAN SKIP BTSN & YOUR DC WILL STILL GRADUATE HS!

YOUR DC’S TEACHERS WILL NEITHER CARE NOR NOTICE YOUR ABSENCE!

ATTENDANCE IS ENTIRELY OPTIONAL & HAS NO BEARING NOR CORRELATION ON YOUR DEVOTION TO DC’S ACADEMIC SUCCESS.

Just calm down.

At least today traffic flow in kiss and ride was better.

I think you're the one that needs to calm down. Nobody is saying anything at all related to your hysterical post. Also, this is an elementary school. Some of us want to meet our kids' teachers and find out more about what to expect in terms of homework/comms.

Yes! I am so happy they blocked off that area with cones. No more cutting back and forth across the lots! That was a huge problem. The first person in the kiss n ride line couldn’t leave because some bozo who wasn’t in the line was cutting across the parking lot through to the West Ox side. Or someone was trying to come in from the West Ox side and go park in the kiss n ride lot. That made the kiss n ride line not move as we had to wait. No more! Hooray!!!!

Hey now! That bozo you speak of was probably really confused this morning. Let's see how long before someone runs over the cones.

It’s good like you said no cutting back and forth from opposite direction, but some people will figure out to just park on staff parking area then walk to drop off or pick up, also it could be terrible in the afternoon since a lot of parent would park and walk across kiss & ride to pick up kids then leave, the cars from kiss & ride and those parked cars trying to leave could result in traffic and long wait.

Already happens near the bus area, plus the vans block most of the parking if you have to pick your kid up early.

PP. Great. Good for you but you can get this info from the email your DC teacher will send out immediately after BTSN.

Luckily they had the PE teacher standing at the cones to direct people. There was no way anyone could have run over the cones without mowing down the PE teacher.

I agree about the afternoon potentially being an issue - curious to see how it goes.

I’m sure not every family was able to send both parents at your school. Do you live in a bubble? Many families wouldn’t be able to secure a sitter or don’t want to pay for one. I’m sure plenty of families just had one parent go and it was fine.
