It does look better as a choker than a headband.

Oh, wow, you are right. I forgot about that picture of Diana. It makes her look ridiculous with the choker as a headband. It is much better as a choker as Kate is wearing it. I wish her dress were the same color as the emeralds. I think that would help.

The story goes that the neck piece got stuck on Diana’s forehead when she was dressing and she liked the look.

That’s false. A lot of these pieces are created to be worn as headpieces OR necklaces and can be interchanged that way.

I think she’s also signaling to significant Irish heritage in Boston.

But how many are designed to be worn on a forehead?

I read on people.com that Kate’s green dress was a RENTAL from a “Rent the Runway” type store in England.

No, it’s true in this case. A Canadian diplomat convinced Diana to leave the necklace on her forehead when it got stuck and she liked the look. QEII was supposedly annoyed at Diana’s innovative use of the neckpiece.

Love the houndstooth dress!

The houndstooth? At least it has 2 colors. But why does she wear things to highlight her skinniness? It’s not her best feature by far.

The houndstooth wins for first piece with more than one color.

I’m sure that’s thrilling for all the Irish immigrants in Boston who are, no doubt, close followers of the British Royal Family and what they signal with their choice of eveningwear

Here it is:

Did she do that deliberately to match the carpet? Or vice versa?

Not many people can look good in this dress but she somehow pulls it off and manages to look graceful.

Agree. I have never ever seen her look bad. I still hate the dress color, but she manages to look great despite the unflattering color

It makes sense to wear green to an earth-themed event that’s in Boston.

+1 The green gown really shows that she can wear anything.

I like the houndstooth but not the length.

I LOVE Kate but I do not like the houndstooth with the baby blue bag for A November event. I prefer jewel tones or darker neutrals for this time of year.

I think her suit is just fine. She took a BA flight and probably wanted something modest and seasonally appropriate that would look nice when she got off the flight.

The dress should have been a jewel tone. Or at least a color of something found in the earth. Not in a mint stuck to the bottom of grandma’s pocketbook.

I like the green dress and think it works with the choker. Diana looks like a character from Star Trek next generation with the choker around her head. That dress was also too teal to wear with emeralds.

I don’t like the houndstooth — I’m not sure if it’s the neck or the way it makes her looks so thin or both together. A softer or v neck might make it look less severe. It’s fine, I just don’t love it.
