If you can't differentiate between "your" and "you're", you're just your average ignorant liberal.

You’re absolutely right. I’m an average ignorant liberal. The thing is, the average ignorant liberal is 14 IQ points to the right of 100 with a large standard deviation. Plenty of liberal idiots, plenty of liberal geniuses. The average MAGA (they’re all ignorant) is 14 points to the left of 100, very tightly wrapped around the median.

Carl (2014) analysed data from the U.S. General Social Survey (GSS), and found that individuals who identify as Republican have slightly higher verbal intelligence than those who identify as Democrat. An important qualification was that the measure of verbal intelligence used was relatively crude, namely a 10-word vocabulary test. This study examines three other measures of cognitive ability from the GSS: a test of probability knowledge, a test of verbal reasoning, and an assessment by the interviewer of how well the respondent understood the survey questions. In all three cases, individuals who identify as Republican score slightly higher than those who identify as Democrat; the unadjusted differences are 1–3 IQ points, 2–4 IQ points and 2–3 IQ points, respectively. Path analyses indicate that the associations between cognitive ability and party identity are largely but not totally accounted for by socio-economic position: individuals with higher cognitive ability tend to have better socio-economic positions, and individuals with better socio-economic positions are more likely to identify as Republican. These results are consistent with Carl's (2014) hypothesis that higher intelligence among classically liberal Republicans compensates for lower intelligence among socially conservative Republicans.

Why are you using a study from 2014? There is a huge difference between people who identified as Republican in 2014 and people who still identify as Republican after everything that has happened in the last 6 years. The fact that you seem unaware of just how outdated your study is speaks poorly of your own IQ.

Dems tend to be a big umbrella party. Republicans probably do have advantages of having more wealthy members. There is a lot of scientific data that dorectly ties educational outcomes and achievement to wealth.

Wealthy people who identify as Democrat even though it may be financially more in their interest to vote for the party that usually lowers taxes for the wealthy probably have types of social intelligence that are not easily measured: empathy and integrity.

Alternative theory: age and wealth are positively correlated. Since the R party is older, it is also richer. If you slice by age ranges, I doubt Rs are richer.

Slice it up by race and sex then, too. White people have more wealth than minorities and men have more wealth than women. Not minorities and women are more likely to be Repo.

And Repos are more likely to think they did it all on their own, bless their hearts.

The average MAGA believed Comet Pizza has a basement hosting a child sex ring. All false. The GOP rank and file continue to fund Trump's MAGA grift. Sad.

What do you mean? How are average GOP voters funding Trump?

Every day, the Trump machine puts out scores of texts and appeals to the rank and file to become KING MAGA and SUPER MAGE supporters with ***5 to 1*** or ***8 to 1*** matches and other BS. And at $25 or $50 at a time, the rank and file are still supporting him. Do you not know this?

General attitudes in red states like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisania, Alabama etc seem to bigly undermine this suggestion.

I actually think this is an interesting question- what makes someone MAGA? I don't think the country as a whole has decided on a definition, but since it is a campaign slogan, I think it has to be:

MAGA = someone who currently supports Trump

Everyone else would just be Republican, conservative, or whatever other label you want to use.

The difference is between policy stance (even morally reprehensible one) and tolerance of absolute corruption. There are people who strongly support the policy objectives of the far right, but who abhor the corruption and threat to democracy itself that Trump and his administration posed. And those people are not MAGA.

Yup, there was a study in Science magazine that said the whole trope that Republicans are happier was basically non-existent because conservatives rated higher on a self-delusion scale. They are literally making it up, like everything else that comes out of their mouths.

LOL, this article cites as a source a study that claims that you can gauge people's happiness based on how much they smile in their social media photos. It criticizes a claimed "self-enhancing" style of reporting without explaining why this should be discounted as a factor for underlying happiness. For example, if a person is happy with her own weight, despite his/her circle of friends who feel otherwise about the person's weight, how does this "delusion" change the fact that the person is actually happy in this regard? How is this any less valid of a form of happiness than someone who feels getting likes on their social media posts is a healthy form of social interaction? So in the end, the entire premise of this article is that if you discount what makes Republicans happier than Democrats, then Republicans are not happier. Well, no sh*t.

Gross that you're making light of this for political points. Families were in the restaurant when this occured. The shooter, who by all accounts was an actually decent person who was terribly misled by conspiracy theories, thought he was going to save kids. This is the result of unchecked internet trolls, not Trump. And, check your notes-- Obama was president when this occurred. So gross.

At least the guy was trying to rescue kids, not abuse them like on Epstein island. Where’s that list again?

A random dude drive hundreds of miles to “investigate” a baseless conspiracy involving nonexistent kids who weren’t in a nonexistent basement of a pizza restaurant. He entered the restaurant armed with an AR15 and a pistol prepared to “sacrifice a few lives.” The discharged the rifle while inside the restaurant where families were eating with children. He’s now serving four years in prison because he’s a f*****g moron and a danger to society. But maybe he should have tried to “rescue” something else imaginary like the Tooth Fairy. Please seek mental health counseling.
