In your hypothetical, they are not on the ballot, so who you would rather see there is irrelevant. You have a a vote to cast and a choice between two people in your scenario: a long time public servant who you may not agree with on every policy point, and a criminal who was impeached twice and attempted to overthrow the government, who claims to be a billionaire, but doesn't pay his bills or taxes (leaving out entirely his more personal morality problems). If you choose the latter, yes, people are going to wonder about your sanity. Understand that in the general election, you do not have to vote for a "party" -- you are always voting for a person.

Trump has not been convicted of anything yet. If he is convicted it is unlikely he will be nominated again. So why all the concern?

So you will vote for a person who has committed crimes as long as they manage not to get convicted?

If you would vote for Trump, you are MAGA. Period. There are non-MAGA republicans. If there are no non-MAGA republicans on the ballot for a race and you cannot bring yourself to vote Democrat, you can vote for (non-MAGA) this party candidates or simply not vote. But if you vote for Trump or one of him supporters, you are undeniably MAGA.

Yes. And it’s exactly what we are talking about when we lay blame with the GOP for letting their out of control base dominate their party. Those are conservative positions. They aren’t MAGA. Denounce MAGA extremism and promote your agenda. That’s fine. Biden gave cons and out and they just won’t take it. They gaslight us and tell us that MAGA extremism doesn’t exist, and then make every normal republican feel targeted instead.

These tweets are a perfect example of what MAGA supporters like to say they believe, while their actions betray quite a few of these stated beliefs. If they actually believed in fair elections and family friendly policies, they wouldn’t be MAGA.

Depends on why you want them to be President. DP. DeSantis’ only problem with Trump is that they’re both trying to court the same MAGA base so Trump is in his way. DeSantis does not oppose Trump’s principles and values.

He’s not Trump’s opponent in that he and Trump have very different beliefs or policy preferences. He’s only Trump’s opponent in that he’s trying to appeal to the same MAGA crowd. If you despised everything Trump stood for, you’d never vote for DeSantis, so he doesn’t want you to think Trump is wrong; just that he’s Trump with less baggage.
