To be frank, I think that a lot of prior investigations resulted in nothing, not because there was nothing- see Muller Report- but BECAUSE of his position. The very argument you are making has benefited him over the past X years since he announced. There comes a point though, where the damage he inflicts on the country is > than the damage potential from charging him.

The problem is that he has a cult-like following and his cult so readily believes in the rule of law until it is applied to them. See abortion. See voter fraud. See DUI. See embezzlement. See ""welfare queens".

It was for alleged violations of the “Presidential Records Act.” Election disputes are common throughout our history, but a former president (let alone one who can run for another term) has NEVER been charged in our history. Do you doubt that the next republican would start charging democrats? Anyone can be charged with something. I wonder how many sitting democratic senators have ever violated federal records retention laws?

I must admit that I don’t understand what is dangerous about finding evidence of a crime, asking a judge for a warrant, and then executing the warrant. That happens multiple times a day, every day, in this country.
