Dogs Everywhere

Dogs > people, I say.

I was sitting behind a fake service dog on a plane recently. Reason I suspect he was fake is that he kept looking behind at us. The lady next to me got so mad! But I loved it. He was a cutie. I love with dogs smile and seem interested in what you’re up to.

They are not smiling nor are they interested in you. You sound like a simpleton.

Dogs are animals. So are cats, rabbits, and chickens. Does this mean that I can bring my cat to the restaurant?

stores need to have a visible pet policy on their door.

People complain to the dog owners...take it up with these corporations. see how much they care about your opinion on dogs. Allowing dogs will provide a much better revenue stream than banning them.

I have a small dog who is well behaved. If I am out running errands I may need to make a quick stop somewhere. If they allow dogs, I am buying something. If they don't..I move on.

The anti-dog group here will never win..so deal with it. I deal with screaming children at a michelin restaurant..you can deal with dogs at home depot

Actually, more and more stores are banning dogs than before. I think people have had it

Not where I live. They are actually welcome in the stores. Luckily I'm no longer in the DMV.

Sure. As long as it will sit on a leash.

Dogs can definitely show interest in people. Many dogs are very social toward humans. Are you totally unfamiliar with dogs?

Show your receipts. Name the precise stores.

Why would I, lol? I'd rather have you head here and get angry

Not angry, just bemused by your pointless rage against dogs in public spaces.

It's not pointless. Dogs are a nuisance and selfish dog owners are starting to get checked across the board. And I love it!

I'm glad you love the status quo! Seems like we are both happy because my dog has never been kicked off a patio or out of a store that doesn't have a no-dog policy. He does get asked quite frequently for a picture for Instagram likes and to let me more know their business is dog-friendly.

For now he hasn't... that will change quite soon. And thanks for confirming you do it to get attention. My guess is youre quite ugly and could never turn heads unless you have some kind of prop like a dog? How sad for you.

I don't do it for attention, he gets attention regardless. He's a well trained dog who lays at my feet. If seeing that on an outside patio drives you batty, you have major issues. While I don't have a dog for attention, sometimes they want me in the pics they take too because I dress well and am a former model, so we look "aspirational" on Instagram. Whatever, if they think it will help their business, fine. Calling someone ugly though, how original.

This is well within the bounds of acceptable service dog behavior depending on the task it is trained to perform. Seeing eye dog? No. Tree nut detecting dog? Sure.

I can count on one hand the number of times that I can recall seeing one in a department store, grocery store, pharmacy, etc. I see them all the time at beer gardens, restaurant patios, etc., but that’s about it.

I’m just not convinced that dogs in store where they don’t belong has become a national emergency.

I was at Dulles airport this afternoon and a woman walked in with a huge a golden retriever. He was a very beautiful dog. However golden retrievers shed! Did not belong in the airport We were at the international section waiting for passengers to come through after getting their bags. So she was not a passenger traveling with her dog. She was there waiting to pick somebody up.

Dogs show interest in people but not for the reasons humans show interest in people. Dogs are either assessing whether you're a threat or whether you can give them something they want. Anthropomorphizing dogs isn't good for them. For instance, humans like hugs. Hugging a dogs isn't a good thing to do as it will trigger their fight or flight.

Asking dogs to be like people isn't acting respectfully to your dog either. It’s a dog.

Some dogs just love getting attention from humans. They want random strangers to speak to them or pet them. They get excited to “greet” new people. That dog could very well have hoped the pp would give him attention.

This. My dog loves when people come to our house, be it the plumber or our best friends. He loves to “host.”

Loving your dog is great.

Bringing it everywhere, is not.

The people that do this are emotionally stunted, like a 4 year old that brings their stuffed toy with them everywhere because they need the security.

Or, they need the attention from others. Also a form of being emotionally stunted.

+1. I guess if pets on the head is "giving them something they want" then ok. My dog just loves attention from people. Also very much enjoys hugs; no fight or flight, hugs mean an invitation to cuddle.
