Failure to provide opportunities for ALL students to reach their potential is the reason people, who can, are moving out to highly rated schools in neighboring counties.

"Moving out" is the equivalent of self-segregation. These other jurisdictions have less diversity.

Actually more people seem to be moving in and those that are leaving are mostly problem parents who complain but don't ever help so good riddance.

Exactly! +100

Buses loaded with people are arriving from Texas to DC and NY. Those who off-bard at DC are moving to MC for support. You will see more enrollments if Texas continue to send them over to this area. This explains the increase in people moving in.
People who are paying high taxes are looking elsewhere to move.

Illegal immigrants have been coming to MoCo for years and years... this is just a cheaper (for them) way for them to get here.

Saw this in the news as well. Interesting times.

These fictions are popular with the faux news crowd. It helps fuel their white grievance narrative.

Are you really that clueless?

This decision was kind of inevitable since the claim had no merit. The group in question continues to have the greatest representation, which makes it hard to claim discrimination.

These professors know very little about the admissions process.

They repeatedly wonder why Asians at 13% downcounty and 17% upcounty yet 20-30% in the students selected by lottery.

They don't even know that the lottery is not for the whole population but for those 85% and above and Asians are 20-30% in that pool.

Without local norming Asians would be 30-40% in the 85% national percentile pool.

It's the same with the judge. She saw Asians 13% downcounty and 20% at Takoma Park, then she thought Asians are overrepresented...

Let it go. It's time to move on from this victim mentality. Your exceptional/gifted child wasn't going to save the planet anyway.

If they do it won't be because they went to an MCPS magnet middle school.

They'll get more mileage from a library card.

Perhaps, but I wanted the bumper sticker mostly.

Yes - "equity" really needs to go.

I wonder why some people are still hanging on to things that happened over 60 years ago then? Are they going to save the planet?

Obviously you have no clue what you are talking about. Denying opportunities to high performing kids are ok with you?

Those who can, are moving to other counties where students are treated with fairness. This has become a circus

Yes, the loud and crazy Karens who always demand special treatment are moving to other counties. This is a good thing.

The claim wasn't that high-performing kids were being denied anything. It was that a group felt they were being discriminated against even though they are better represented than any other group. Go figure...
