Agreed - this will get the process much closer to a fair result. I wouldn't go so far as calling it a win-win, though. Still a lot to be desired with the process as a whole. And lots of unnecessary heartbreak for kids who were not admitted at first but later will be or vice versa.

Two federal appellate judges disagreed. The students lied on a question they thought would never be verified and now all their supporters are up in arms because TJ is rescinding admission to unethical cheaters. They are lucky that TJ is doing it now and not formally expelling them a week into the school year.

It’s doesn’t matter what the school board does or does not do, it’s a zero sum game and people will continue to fight each other to get a slice of very limited academic resources. Why make it that way? TJ sucks all of the oxygen out of the room. It divides people. There are no classes for 9th/10th graders that could not be taken at a base school. The other 99.9% of FCPS students deserve better.

Yep. I'm one of the posters who has had a huge issue with the 90 points for the ED experience factor. To me, it's not about whether Longfellow kids deserve to get in more than Whitman kids. It's about whether the cheating Longfellow kids deserve to get in over the honest Longfellow kids. The 90 point boost was huge for the higher SES kids in Carson or Longfellow who misrepresented their income. Good riddance that FCPS is finally fixing the issue, albeit in a late and embarrassingly incompetent way.
