We support a nearly total ban on firearms, even if it means no guns for us.

why are these Rs so defeatist?

"ohh.. it's impossible to get the guns off the streets, so we need more guns".

"ohh. more gun laws won't solve this, so we don't need more gun laws"

"ohh..logic is so hard".

Let’s see … over the past few decades auto regulations have been enacted to improve safety, car seats are continually being improved, setback/fence line requirements exist or else pool owners can be held liable for injuries on their property, etc. but for some reason we throw up our hands when it comes to guns and declare that nothing.absolutely.nothing can be done to make them less deadly. Guns must be special I guess.

here's your problem most of the activists want to ban/outlaw guns. If you went in with more reasonable approaches you might actually get something accomplished. Blame the left wing activists.

For YEARS now “left wing activists” have been asking for common sense gun reform. But the absolute temper tantrum the right has at any mention of regulating gun ownership has left us feeling like maybe we need to just scrap the 2nd amendment and start over. It’s like when my 7 year old gets upset when I try to limit using the iPad. At some point I’m like fine, if you can’t be mature and handle some screen time limitations, then I’m going to take the damn thing away.

Sorry NRA gun nuts, but you’ve proven yourself to be tantruming children about your guns. So you need a timeout at this point.

Yup. Reasonable approaches are met with "they're going to take all our guns!!!" So why not go for broke?

I remember I learned about Sandy Hook because some idiot old classmate of mine's immediate reaction to hearing about Sandy Hook was to talk about his guns in a meme. That was his first impulse in learning about a bunch of dead kids. Sharing a joking Game of Thrones meme.

Something is deeply, deeply wrong with gun nuts.

How about we make murder illegal? Oh wait, it already is

So, why bother making murder illegal. Is that your logic?

How many school shootings have there been in the UK?
Ireland?
CANADA?
Australia?
New Zealand?

? not sure what your point is, but those countries have very strict gun control, at least I know in the UK they do. My spouse is from there.

But to answer your question -- many already have posted a chart showing how the US is far and above all other countries, including 3rd world countries, in terms of the number of school shootings.

Good guys with guns are not stopping the bad guys with guns. The gun culture in this country is the problem and the lax regulations are a symptom. It all needs to change.

Yes I know that was my point. I was responding to some dingbat saying 'well murder is already illegal' dur dur dur
Same BS that Ammosexuals bring up all the time. Along with 'then make cars and scissors illegal' freaking idiots

oh, yes. It's the same stupid logic... "murder is illegal but it doesn't stop murders..so we don't need more murder laws, right"? Then why bother making murder illegal. Heck, why bother having laws since someone will break the law.

We have speeding laws, but most people speed. Why have speeding laws?
We have theft laws, but we still have theft. Why have theft laws?
We have anti-corruption laws, but look at how many corrupt people there are. So, why bother having corruption law.

I mean, why bother having *ANY* law, per that ammosexual's logic.

But we do have gun laws, and criminals and mentally ill people break them. Keeping guns out of the hands of law abiding, sane citizens will not fix the problem. Crack down on real criminals would be one way to get started. But instead, we're doing the complete opposite.

These are not separate categories! There are people who own guns who become mentally ill (like an acquaintance of mine who killed himself with a gun he had owned) or people who have no criminal record UNTIL they go shoot a bunch of people. Before these acts, these people WERE “law abiding, sane citizens.”

There is nothing “pro life” about caring more for the second amendment than innocent children.

100% correct. Not to mention how the same party foams at the mouth at the chance to cut funding for food stamps and children’s health insurance - programs like CHIP, SNAP, so they can give the wealthy more tax cuts.

Reprehensible

Yes. The Constitution is meant to be a living, breathing document, not a dusty old time capsule from past generations scarred by the overturn of its own government.

REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT. It has no place in today's society.

Nope. Many of these active shooters got their guns legally.
And the more guns there are arkund- the more likely someone who shouldn't get their hands on them will.

Google "toddler shoots self" for a fun little lesson on how responsible gun owners are in this country.

I think it comes down to a feeling of belonging to some of these people, of being part of a club. I knew a guy years ago who walk around stores in Virginia openly carrying just to provoke a confrontation with law enforcement. Open carry is legal in Virginia, but people get scared when they see someone walking around with a firearm so brazenly. This guy I knew was aware of that, and didn't care. He thrived on the adrenaline of "fighting for his rights". At the end of the day, I don't think it is a big philosophical or Constitutional issue for a lot of these people. They just want to be argumentative and be part of an us v them club.

Not sure what immature name calling of Republicans as pro-birther, pro-lifer, nut Trumpster will do. Just a child like tantrum here.

We could put metal detectors at schools. To stop shooters from entering schools.

Or, we can call Republicans mean names and talk about a fantasy world without guns. Your choice.

Or we can ban guns and make a “fantasy” come to life.

Would you be willing to support the massive tax increases it would take to put in these metal detectors and the guards necessary to take down someone as they go through the detectors?

I would, I would just be sad that our kids would have to live that way. But if it saves their lives, I would. Establish a TSA of schools, if you will.

Can you imagine working in that ER? On that police force having to walk through the scene?
