I don’t hate Gu. I do question her choice and I certainly question how she was parented. I guess many of you are saying that financial considerations should easily trump patriotism for one’s country. That’s just sad. |
|
They and their families made a huge mistake.
I feel bad for the kids. |
| Gu is basically a traitor. If she hasn’t given up her US citizenship, it should be revoked. |
| I haven't watched one single but of Olympics coverage this time, and really don't miss it at all. Seems to all be a big money game, held in the country that gave us Covid. Not feeling it at all. |
A traitor? Over an amateur sports event? WFT with your priorities man? You must be a Patriots/Sox fan. |
Please stop use, wear, eat, or touch anything made in China. Including the free covid test kits and KN95 masks the government purchased and imported from China, using your tax dollar. Please throw away your iphone, ipad, your laptop, your TV immediately. Please where your shoes, socks, and underwear were made. |
What does using products from another country have to do with someone getting citizenship in another country to compete for them in the Olympics? |
| It's obvious these athletes are free agents now, and it looks like the time for the Olympics has passed. |
There are a lots of athletes who are us citizens represent other countries. No one asks other athletes to give up there us citizenship. Why Gu? People claim that she supports a dictatorship, but we all do. Buying everything from China enables its government to slave its citizens, to bully other countries, to seize freedoms in HK. Soon it may invade Taiwan. |
So I agree that many of our business and entertainment leaders don’t care about selling out American ideals for a few bucks. But would YOU do what this adult woman has done? I think most of us wouldn’t to be honest because we understand what it means to be a propaganda tool for a fascist oligarchy like China. |
Such hatred. If that happens, US will lose multi millions in tax revenue. It's interesting to know that Gu is making more contributions to US economic than the haters here combined both in terms of tax revenues and by promoting US products aboard while the haters here just promote hatred. But haters just hate because they are losers. |
I think there are subtle racisms at play. |
She is also Chinese because of her mom I understand. I am European and my kids are born in the US with an American father. Since birth they are dual citizen (my country in the EU and US) they speak both languages, spend good part or every summer in my country. I can safely say none of them is Olympic material but if there were, would they be traitors to run for the US even though they are citizen of my country? Would they be traitors if they ran for my country instead of the US? Some people have really foot in two different places, several of her friends actually have a parent from a foreign country and are dual citizen. This is not WWII luckily so I don’t see the outrage. |
Gu's situatuon is different from the others. The athletes wbo wouldnt make the usa team because they arent good enough to qualify i dont have any problems with them going for the olympic dream for another even one like china. This is the figure skater and the hockey players. She is literally the best in the world so she didnt think she would make as much money representing the usa even though athletes such as chloe kim/shiffrin do quite well. Its basic greed. Did you see her post about using vpn to get around the chinese censors. What a joke, i hope they pen shuai her. |
Athletes in the US are not financially supported by the government so they are free to present the country they chose. Gu could never make the amount of money she is making now in China if she skis for the US. She would be one of the many gold medalists and only gets a slice of the pie. In China, she is the only one. You are sour grapes bc she is the best in her sports but decided to go after money and fame. Your dirty mind should never see any sunlight. |
