FCPS is turning the new high school purchased to fix crowding into an Aviation magnet school instead of a high school??

Because they used West Ox as the dividing line for that scenario. Floris and Fox Mill are only one street apart on that side.

Maybe for transportation purposes they lump that section of Floris with that portion of Fox Mill (Bradley Farm)?

Ask anyone who works at Westfield and they will tell you all of their major issues come from the Herndon addresses.

Scenario A is the don't touch South Lakes.

West Ox was the magisterial boundary during the South Lakes redistricting; that portion of Floris is entirely UMCs.

Any clear favorites so far? I feel its sort of hard to analyze without accompanying MS maps.

MS and ES maps and legally permissible demographic information.

Oh, I know. I live there. Scenario A is definitely the one Meren will push like someone said earlier.

They could legally provide all sorts of demographic information if they wanted. Just look at the information that MCPS posts about the boundary options associated with reopening Woodward HS or the now-deferred Crown HS.

FCPS has chosen since the mid-2010s to be less transparent, as they want to discourage people from haggling over which schools are seeing increases in their FARMS percentages and which ones are seeing decreases. If you went back to earlier boundary studies they provided more information on the impacts of different options.

I updated this summary based on feedback to date:

Option A:

* Centreville enrollment declines from 2310 to 1957. Bull Run area at Centreville moves to Westfield.
* Chantilly enrollment declines from 2916 to 2225. Oak Hill moves to Western and parts of Brookfield and Cub Run move to Westfield
* Oakton enrollment declines from 2601 to 2165. Navy island and Oakton part of Crossfield move to Western.
* Westfield enrollment declines from 2710 to 2407. Coates, Floris south of West Ox, and McNair move to Western and parts of Centreville and Chantilly move to Westfield (described above).
* Western 9-12 enrollment: 1792

Option B:

* Centerville - same as Option A
* Chantilly - same as Option A
* South Lakes enrollment declines from 2410 to 2040. Fox Mill and Floris north of West Ox move to Western
* Westfield - same as Option A
* Western 9-12 enrollment: 1726

Option C:

* Centreville - same as Option A
* Chantilly - appears same as Option A but FCPS shows enrollment declining to 2218
* Oakton - same as Option A
* South Lakes enrollment declines from 2410 to 2002. Fox Mill and South Lakes part of Crossfield move to Western
* Westfield enrollment declines from 2710 to 2472. Coates, McNair, and part (but not all) of Floris move to Western, and Westfield picks up the areas from Centreville and Chantilly described under Option A
* Western 9-12 enrollment: 2142

Option D:

* Centreville - same as Option A
* Chantilly - same as Option C
* Oakton enrollment declines from 2601 to 2239. Oakton part of Crossfield (but not Navy island) moves to Western.

You can see the demographic information on the school profiles. Go to fcps.edu and search schools. Click on profile and then demographics. If you mean neighborhoods, I don't know where to find that.

PP was asking about the demographic information associated with the four boundary options for the Western HS. You can come up with estimates on your own but other jurisdictions like MCPS and APS would share that information. FCPS stopped doing that over a decade ago.

Good analysis. I think the Chantilly difference between A and C is a tiny little jagged piece next to Thompson Rd. (Looking at map C it is on the top towards the right of Chantilly map) Maybe Ashvale? That's a strange street that has had divisions between Chantilly and Oakton for years. Developed at different times. But, they also go to different elementary schools, so who knows.

South Lakes redistricting was closer to rioting than haggling. But, given how FCPS framed it, it’s not like it wasn’t their fault.

I think Option B is the best option. Some parts of Crossfield are IN Oakton. It's not fair to resdistrict us.

Good for you. The greater part of kids at Crossfield do NOT live in Oakton. They live in Herndon/Oak Hill.
That has nothing to do with this.
But, you have every right to support the options you prefer.
