FCPS is turning the new high school purchased to fix crowding into an Aviation magnet school instead of a high school??

Depends on the scenario.

It would make more sense to make that island Oak Hill/Franklin/Western HS than keep them Navy/Franklin/Oakton while the rest of the neighborhood goes to Western HS. People with kids at Navy now/who went there recently want to keep things as is but it stinks for future kids to be an island at every school level.

They need to make that island Crossfield like the rest of Franklin Farm. I have no idea why it was ever zoned to Navy in the first place.

The problem is that people with kids who currently go to Navy fight the move every time. I wish they would just move the island but grandfather kids who currently attend Navy. It will be so much easier for future planning if they don’t have to factor in the Navy island.

If they are giving rising 8th,9th and 10th graders a chance to stay at their high school, it gives the parents of kids currently in elementary school time to figure out an alternative if that is what they want. That also means no students currently at CVHS will have to transfer.

That's not realistic, with transportation.

reid made a comment at the marshall meeting that if you stay at your old school you likely won’t get transportation

Thats the Floris map. Scenarios C and D have what looks like Discovery Square of EDS [ie street name Neil Armstrong DR] that opens to Mclearen RD staying at Westfield. Centreville moves to Westfield appear the same in each map. There's a less than 10 variation on Chantilly total out
New school projected membership by Scenario have <400 student variable which is ridiculous for the new Western HS.

Reid and minions should not exclude stuff off EDS Dr for this school. Other issue is unrefined moves out of South Lakes and Oakton up there with Threu/Reid work on busing Marshall walkers.

A= 1726. 691 out of Chantilly. Nothing out of Oakton.
B= 1792. 691 out of Chantilly. Nothing out of South Lakes.
C=2142. Discovery Sq at Westfield when WHS has areas that could be at ie South Lakes. Tiny bump of Chantilly near Oakton border to WHS 698 out of Chantilly.
D =2068. Navy island at Oakton. Discovery Sq at Westfield when WHS has areas that could be at ie South Lakes. Tiny bump of Chantilly near Oakton border to WHS 698 out of Chantilly.

Presenting four maps is SO incredibly lazy. Just have one well-thought out proposal and solicit input based on that.

They have seats to fill at Westfield and only so much space at KAA, that's why.

Do you mean to Oakton--not Westfield?

Your scenario letters (A-D) are different from the ones posted earlier. Gets confusing.
Scenario A posted earlier had Crossfield kids (Oakton) at KAA.

FCPS needs to post these so we can all get on the same page regarding which scenario is which.

3 out of 4 have Fox Mill ar KAA

I have been saying Fox Mill has a fighting chance. For some reason, people on this board always ruled out Fox Mill.

Thanks, missed that. But, one of the posters had them wrong.

Seems to me that in Option A should include all of Floris. Wonder why they left that out.

Thanks for posting this summary.
One caveat: be careful and use these Scenarios only for reference here on DCUM. A community member on Nextdoor also posted maps, but in a different order.
So, only for discussion here should we assume that the Scenarios are as posted (A-D). They could be reversed elsewhere.

The maps are literally labeled, you idiot.

Woah. Just want to make clear that I prepared this summary of Scenarios A through D and I followed the maps (FWIW, they refer to "Options" rather than "Scenarios").

I'm not PP calling anyone an "idiot." I prepared the summaries because it's a lot of information to digest.

DP. I think I am the "idiot." I did not see the labeling, but 16:51 has some incorrect labeling--said that Oakton was not affected in Option A.
