She's been on the same team 2 years now, and some of the girls were on her rec team before that. They are all friends, facetime each other, and enjoy doing team activities together like the travel tournaments, Washington Spirit games, team parties, etc.
With rec you get a new team every year, at least a couple kids who don't really want to be there and are truly awful. The coach has to play them and it just isn't fun. I'd rather play $3k for my daughter to have fun with sports and get exercise while making friends than spend all my time taking her to rec practice and games that she doesn't even like.
Maybe your kid will play in college. Mine won't. I'd prefer it that way anyway. She's a smart kid - she'll still get in somewhere good and I can afford to pay for it.

Absolutely agree! Mine loves playing the game but hates the disorganized nature of rec. Her teammates didn't take practice seriously and the coach was a volunteer dad with little experience and no license. Every saturday was a guessing game of who will or won't show up to play. At least with travel, she gets 10 months of continuous training, multiple tournaments, and teammates that are more serous about playing. She won't play professionally and almost no chance of playing in college but she's happy.

Well stated. We started travel cause honestly $3K isn't a ton of money and we wanted reliability in both coaching and teammates.

Mmmm...........reliable, not always the case.

Just stop being combative for no reason. You and your kids have no skin in this game, obviously; get a life and let people spend their money and time how they want.

Wow. Get this guy a tissue or violin.

That's a weird thread, b/c people are specifically mad about a lack of field space, and specifically mad about field space for 100 pages.

I actually have kids in different age groups at Valor. We are very happy. Based on the new PlayMetrics rosters, so were a lot of other families. I heard one specific team who had major (legitimate) issues with a coach not being able to make practices and they let him go, but other than that team I don't know where the unhappy people were. We have been with Valor since its inception and aside from a few families who left because their kids got on higher teams at other clubs than they could make here, I just don't hear people talking about being unhappy/ frustrated/ insert your word. I truly am stunned by this thread, which I read on occasion but not often. My kids have had several different coaches between them and we have liked them all.

Aren't there like, 50 + teams? There will be happy customers and unhappy customers. Its weird to me that you are "stunned" by that.

Strange because there have been so many and specific complaints regarding particular teams yet you know no one who doesn't rave about the valor experience. Hmm. Curious indeed.

Get a life and worry about your own kid instead of judging and making fun of other people and their kids.

Eh, it's a mixed bag from people I know. Comes down to whether you think your kid is too good for Valor or your happy with the community vibe. Some parents are delusional and their kid's talents and those are normally the ones complaining the most.

LOL. Yes. No valid complaints, only delusional parents. Thanks Marketing Guy.

What PP said matches up exactly with our experience too. The biggest complainers were delusional about their kids’ level of talent and wanted to blame it on the coaching instead of being realistic. Several of the kids who left ended up on the same team at a different club. They played the lowest Valor team in a tournament, the team they thought their kids were too good for, and tied them. Lol. So much for different coaches magically turning their kids into soccer stars.

Because, I mentioned thats not always the case on reliability??

I said “not always” so that doesn't mean never. And you respond with get a life….?

Calm down my friend. You could use a Xanax or high dose sedative.

Someone needs a cookie, glass a milk and nappy time. Its not that serious. Lol

a lot of people seem to have had a bad experience at Valor. no other club has this many bad reviews, even much larger clubs like Loudon and Alexandria.

It's because loudoun and Alexandria parents complain about their club on other threads.

Not disregarding your statement at all, but several parents have certainly made it to higher level and upper division teams. Thats fact, nor its delusional. We all know Valor and including all clubs have some nepotism. Have you been to a tryout here, its laughable and even disingenuous how they market and try to sell you on those lower level teams. No coach….really. Someone help this club please.

Those aren't the parents sitting on this thread, though. Sure, top, middle, and bottom teams kids can bounce from to club to club to try and get on a better team or get more playtime. However, it takes either something horrible happening or you being so personally offended for your super star player to spend your time bashing a current or former club on here. It's very obvious it's the same handful of parents. I'll even say, I know one of you personally by your writing/speaking style and what you've complain about. I won't say more because I'm not trying to dox anyone... But just like in other clubs threads people aren't as sneaky as they think they are and just as delusional in person. 😉

“Delusional” ? Unhinged? Nicely done there guy. Please indulge me in your hypocrisy. The people here don’t to have bash anyone. Valor easily accomplishes this on its own according to all the multiple negative threads. Seriously, empty threats? We are not kids that Valor can take advantage of like the players in this club. Don’t be so offended.

If its the same division then a tie breaker isn’t to far behind or even 1-0 win or loss. Now if your team beat an upper division team of a different club than that say a lot. Are we comparing an apple to apple?
